Please can I have some birthday gift ideas for my 3yo?

I'm really struggling for ideas

We have quite a small house, she already has a dolls house and play tent in her room and a play kitchen in our lounge.

I got her some more play food and some cutting fruit for Christmas which has gone down really well. We also got her a yoto for Christmas which has been very popular.

So far for her birthday I have got her a teddy that she's asked for and a dinkum doll. She loves role play, she likes crafts, she loves her playdoh and duplo, she has a brio train track.

Please any ideas would be really appreciated! Her birthday is in 4 weeks

Some more furniture for the dolls house. Sylvanian Families stuff is lovely if it's the correct scale.

Dressing up clothes?
Annual entry to local soft play, farm etc? This can be a good suggestion for a grandparent etc.

Mangoandbroccoli · 14/01/2024 16:00

Can't recommend a yoto player enough! We have the minis for 3 and 7 year old and they both absolutely love it and use it every day - a brilliant and relatively bomb proof way to listen to audio books (also radio, music and podcasts) and there are loads to choose from.

Mangoandbroccoli · 14/01/2024 16:48

Agh, so sorry, just realised you said you'd got one 🙈

Magnatiles / Picasso tiles.

They're by far the most popular toy i've ever bought, and are used by all ages. (I've even known adults to sit and build with them) Grin

The melissa and doug ice cream set is great! Very nuch loved here
A toy till and a shopping basket. We love ours. Dont need a shop to play shop.
A car for her dollshouse? Hape sell a nice one.
We got a kinetic sandbox set for christmas which is great for 10 minutes peace. Box keeps it in one place.
Dinkum wise gets some clothes (some in the sales). And some yoto cards.
Look at maileg if you like dinkum. Might be a touch too young. But theyre very cute and go with dollshouse.

If you want something expensive i rave about stapelstein! We got the pastel set for christmas and love them. They're so much more than Stepping stones. Used as spinners/stool/climbing things/toy salad bowl, sorting and counting. Theyre not cheap but yes bebe usually have a 10 percent off code that works on them. As they stack they dont take up too much space. A great open ended toy.

YY to magnetiles. The biggest hit with my 3YO this Christmas.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 14/01/2024 16:56

I've got a soon-to-be 3 year old as well. We've got her dressing up sets (mainly princesses) but also the accessories (shoes, crowns, wands etc). Cinderella doll, new clothes and some craft items

MrsShortbread · 14/01/2024 16:58

Mine adored Mailleag mouse at that age, for a long time.

Joeslaol00 · 14/01/2024 16:58

Balance bike was a big hit for Granddaughter 3rd Birthday.

CoffeeMad18 · 14/01/2024 17:00

It's a long time since mine were 3 but they absolutely loved playing with a cake like this...

Accompaniments for the train set. My 3.5 yo got a rescue and fire station for her trains at Christmas. The rescue was a small addition as it's a bridge and a helicopter that can pick up trains

We got a hammer and nail set after my daughter loved it at a school open day

We mostly did additions to her existing toys. We have slowly built a farm which merges into her train set as she has a barn with her train.

Simple dress up. My daughters favourite is a cape with matching mask!

Books - my daughter absolutely loves the small people big lives series!

Mine has just turned 4. She got the ice cream set mentioned above for her 3rd birthday and I would honestly say it's her most played with toy - still played with several times a week.

RedRobyn2021 · 14/01/2024 19:17

@Superscientist what brand of train do you get or is it a mash up?

Mine just turned 3 and she got a mini-camera, lots of duplo, hot wheels, a desk, play doh :)

BeachedOff · 14/01/2024 19:22

Magnet tiles have been the most loved toy in our house - we got a few sets so that we could make some really cool things. We have made castles, zoos, train tracks, Jurassic Park, soft play and all sorts with them and used them alongside various toys, animals and dolls.

DCINightingale · 14/01/2024 19:27

Brio battery or rechargeable trains are fantastic. They have one that you put water in so it "steams" as it goes along. We have a few, one charges via USB so no need to faff with batteries.

Also our kids love yoto cards we have made ourselves, using some make your own cards (or recording over the welcome card). Does not have to be high production values (although DH loves adding music and sound effects).

Funnily enough I was showing DP the brio steam train the other day, we do have a battery operated one. It would be nice to get her another addition

Mostly brio and bigjig but there are about 4 varieties. We got a big bundle on eBay for her 3rd birthday. Anything that says brio compatible has been ok

We got about 100 pieces for £40 mix of fancy splitter pieces, trains and shrubbery to go next to the track

Hiddendoor · 14/01/2024 20:41

Dressing up clothes, I would aim for a mix - my parents bought my DD a medical set when she was 4. So white coat, two colours of scrubs, hat, stethoscope (I think it was Rubies) but some capes and wigs were favourites too.

Duplo a huge winner.

ceeb21 · 14/01/2024 22:32

My just turned 3 year old also got the Melissa and doug ice cream set - it's great.

Also a v tech camera has gone down well!!

I agree with this. My daughter has both the vet and Dr set from m and s and absolutely loves them! The stethoscope is just about good enough to hear your heart beat too if you listen carefully which is a fun game! Ours packs away nicely into a fairly robust bag which is great for a rapid de-childing of the lounge when she has gone to bed and we try to have some peace and quiet!

My daughter was too small for the doctor coats (1st percentile child) but my mum made her a scrubs top instead
