Help.. should my baby’s dad pay me

Hello,

I just wanted opinions on what I should be entitled to etc and if I am wrong or right.

Me and my baby dad are not together, my little boy will be turning 1 next week.

I decided to go back to work when he was 8 months, I live at home with my parents out of choice as my dad has been ill and still recovering (I pay them rent) I work Monday - Wednesday part time and Thursday/ Friday full time.

I put my little boy in nursury and it costs £1400 a month (I don’t seem to be entitled to any other support apart from tax free childcare)

Baby dad picks him up every Thursday from nursury at 4.30pm and drops him back off at 7.30am Friday and has him every other weekend to (Saturday 11.30am - sunday 5pm and the weeks that he doesn’t have him that weekend he will occasionally see him the sunday (not very often)

His dad earns lots of money, lives in a 3 million pound house with his parents rent free, works for his dad (£280 a day) also does private jobs and has been given company cars which he doesn’t pay for etc

He gives me 0 money, I have had £60 in 6 weeks.. his reasonings being -

A) he buys his own milk when he has him (I do always provide milk but it comes back)

B) he doesn’t agree he should be in nursury and thinks I should be a stay at home mum on benefits so he doesn’t feel he should contribute towards that

C) he seems to think this schedule is 50/50???

Reality is, there is now no point of me working, I get 0 financial support and we keep arguing and thinks he’s totally within his rights not to pay me

Please give me your opinion

Are you sure you don't qualify for help with childcare through Universal credit ? you would need to be on a pretty high wage not to ?
But yes if you don't qualify for much help through benefits he should pay half of childcare costs and child maintenance too.

I'd be contacting CMS because if he thinks that's 50/50 he's an idiot. Are you sure you're not entitled to UC or anything other than the childcare. Have you been on the benefits calculator?

You need to go to look online at benefits entitlement and make a child support claim.

Of course he should pay. Don't let him manipulate you into thinking anything else.
