Sorry if this isn’t in the right topic area

im stressing. We’ve booked to go to the UAE/ Dubai in February and I don’t understand how we would lug a car seat around? DS is 14 months and I’m not sure what to do.

how would we use a car seat over there?
mid we get a taxi to the mall, are we expected to carry it around?! Surely not?

I think actually they are probably not mandatory in taxis - but if I were you, I'd use one as I've heard the driving standards are a bit alarming compared to the UK!

Unfortunately it's a bit of a tricky age for it. Does he still fit in an infant carrier and maybe you could use that on your buggy? Then take the normal buggy seat for days when you won't have car travel, and the car seat attachment for days that you'll need to be in a car.

You can book the family option on uber in Dubai and a car seat will be provided in the car.

Or take your own and use adapters to clip onto pram frame. We did that on holiday and was relatively straight forward although baby was younger.
I wouldn’t recommend travelling without one, the drivers go ridiculously quick on 5 lane motorways, I never feel particularly safe in taxi’s when over there.

He’s too big for the infant seat otherwise I would have totally took that!

thanks for info on Uber!

Just not straightforward 😅

Yes but just because he's too big for yours, you might be able to get a bigger one that works with your pram.

For example the old maxi Cosi Cabriofix (not i-size) is huge and can fit an average 2 year old. It's compatible with a lot of prams and not too expensive. Or Joie i-gemm might work. Have a look.
