What do you think defines ‘a fussy eater’?

My DH is convinced our 20 month old is ‘a fussy eater’ just because he won’t eat everything we put in front of him.

He loves fruit, will eat pasta dishes, rice dishes (his fave is chilli con carne), things like cottage pie, fish fingers etc. He’ll eat certain veg like peas and sweetcorn; he isn’t keen on meat on its own, like sausages, or roast chicken etc. He doesn’t particularly like potatoes (apart from chips…) and tonight spat out mashed potato everywhere and refused to eat it. Cue my DH being up in arms about how he’s such a fussy eater. He eats fairly well at nursery and they certainly haven’t brought up any concerns about his eating.

I don’t think he’s particularly fussy but I’m fed up of my husband making a big deal about it like he’s the worst eater in the world. It’s like he doesn’t consider that he’s still young and testing his boundaries. He’s definitely more of a ‘grazer’ than into big meals. What would you say defines a fussy eater?

No he doesn’t sound fussy at all. If there are things he doesn’t like just keep offering small amounts alongside the foods he likes. It is likely he will have fussy patches as he ages but if you stay chilled about it he will end up fine. You are right your DH needs to chill the fuck out.

Agree doesn't seem fussy at all.

Mine is fussy. Refuses all veg, only eats 4 dinners on rotation and won't try anything new at all. It's a nightmare.
