Toddler walking

2yo doesn’t like buggy, we started a few months ago walk to nursery (about 0.5 miles) except in bad weather etc. so 3 days a week attempting to walk there

he does good but I’m wondering am I expecting too mych

i have weirdly got this feeling that he needs to be out walking at some point everyday, so 4 other days I try to go walking somewhere

and I feel he’s resisting walking sometimes (nursery mornings and the odd other time) and my DH said it must be he’s getting bored etc - and we noticed when we missed a day or two then did a walk he was more receptive to

so I just wondered does he actually need a longish walk everyday? I don’t want to be a lazy household but also don’t want to stress my toddler

When I say he doesn’t like buggy btw he actually doesn’t - he screams and thrashes in it so when he’s tired of walking he wants carrying

and I need to try and break the habit I’ve tried buggy or walk but he just kicks off and I don’t want him upset

My 2yo (nearly 3) has never liked his buggy. It's been put away for months now. He walked 4 miles the other day (with a couple of breaks for snacks). My older kids were the exact opposite and cried just walking around the corner to school!

I'd keep up the walk to nursery in fine weather because that seems like a sweet routine, and maybe calm down a bit with the longer walks every day. If he's also bouncing around the house, going to soft play, park, etc., on his non-nursery days, then he's getting lots of exercise so he could just be knackered with the extra walks on top. Have you tried a buggy board, maybe one with a little seat? Could be a good compromise for when he gets tired?
