Bottle teets taste of fairy liquid?

Hey,
The bottle teets on my baby's bottles all taste like washing up liquid. I really do rinse them so I'm not sure why they would taste like this after washing and then microwave sterilising them. Any tips to get them really really clean?
Thanks!

Use a different washing up liquid e.g. Milton baby bottle cleaner (can get it in Boots)

I really want to know how you know this!

Are you leaving them to soak in soapy water?
Don't do this if so as silicone takes on detergent flavour.
Otherwise can't imagine why! I always use Fairy and never had this. Although actually I'm not sure if I'd know as I have never tasted the teat myself...?!

Yes I do leave them to soak sometimes. I will stop immediately. Thanks!

I've tasted the teet a couple of times when the baby is fussing to double check the milk is ok. Maybe it's just the smell of fairy liquid and that's what I can taste!

Might be worth starting with brand new teats if they're really tasting of the washing up liquid. I rinse in cold water first which apparently helps to remove milk proteins better than hot which essentially cooks the protein residue making it harder to get off. Then wash under hot running water and rinse.
Good luck!
