This is probably a really silly question. We’ve started potty training my DS who is almost 3. It’s going well and he’s been accident free all week. He’s also dry every night but we’re keeping pull ups on overnight for now while he gets really established with the daytime.
he’s still going on the potty although sometimes wants to go on the toilet. When he does go on the toilet we use the top part of the potty which clips on to the seat. I place him on the toilet because he’s not quite got the balance to get up on his own and I don’t want him to have an accident and then fear the toilet.
this is all pretty fine at home but I’m suddenly feeling clueless as to what we do from here in terms of out and about. Currently we are taking the portable potty out with us. This is a potty but can also be used as a seat on the toilet but it doesn’t clip on so is super unstable for him to use without me sitting him on. It’s a bit bulky so ideally we would get rid of this soon and rely on public toilets…
BUT I can’t imagine he will be big enough for a normal toilet seat for a while. So what are other people doing with their 3 year olds? Do you all have mini foldable toilet seats that you’re carrying around in your handbags? (Lol) or will he just adapt to using a normal toilet seat in a few weeks?
many hope is that he becomes a bit more independent with it soon but given that even at home he would have to clip the toilet seat in and climb up I just can’t see that happening soon.
what am I missing?! What happens next?
