How to help child with ADHD

I suspect that my 6-year-old child has ADHD. She exhibits all the symptoms, and both her current and previous teachers have expressed concerns about her ability to concentrate. We have a meeting scheduled with the SENCO in a couple of weeks, and I am struggling to figure out the best way to help and support her. Is there anyone with experience who can offer some guidance?

List the behaviours you notice that you think indicate her ADHD so you have them to hand to talk with the SENCO about at your meeting. Six is very young for a female ADHD diagnosis; often, it is not spotted until the teen years. Are you sure it is ADHD, not ASD

Listen to the school's opinion, and add their observations to your list.

Ask the SENCO for a referral to an Ed Psych immediately (it could take years to be seen). Ask for a referral to CAMHs

Read up on ADHD and how to parent children with ADHD

If you can afford a private Ed Psych appointment/diagnosis, you will get help far quicker and then move into NHS for medication and CAMH cmonitoring appointments.
