Cheaper alternative to water wipes.

I've used water wipes since baby has been born but I'd like to swap to something a bit cheaper now baby is approaching 11 weeks as they are SO expensive. Can anyone recommend any cheaper alternatives?

Cotton balls?
Purpose made reusable wipes?
Get a towel and cut it up into wipe sizes pieces?

Have a look on etsy for reusable wipes. There are so many lovely colours and bamboo is so soft.

I used to love popping them in the wash and hanging them put to dry. Lovely memories. X

Amazing brand mama bear is great and no where near as expensive as water wipes

If you really cant handle reusable wipes (which in my experience are just as easy to use out and about as wet wipes) then I recommend the Cheeky Panda x

Any wipes really. I just tend to grab whatever is on offer/whatever is for sale in the shop I’m in. Currently working through some French pampers bought on holiday. Before that I couldn’t face the shops so got Amazon own brand. Unless baby is particularly sensitive you don’t need to overthink it. And whilst water wipes are good for newborn skin, beyond the first weeks and I’m yet to find a brand that is worse than water wipes and I reckon I’ve tried them all. With water wipes you go for one wipe and the whole pack tries to come out at once and they’re also not that great at cleaning sticky faces or dirt which you have to look forward to soon with walking and weaning, plus as you say so expensive!!

I've always just used flannels, then washed them with the nappies/towels (depending on whether they were used for nappy changing or just face wiping).

When mine were small, I had a very small plastic spray bottle (the type you find in the travel section of a chemist) which I would keep filled with water then just spritz onto a flannel when I needed it damp.

No need to buy fancy throwaway products

I use water wipes too. I do agree they're so expensive, but they're of such good quality. I know Aldi has their own range of water wipes; I haven't used them yet though

2 Packs of 12 cheap flannels and an old plastic tub - water and a little baby bath in it. It's gay said I did cloth nappies too so all got put on to wash and very other day

Cotton wool and water. Get a little top and tail bowl.

bakewellbride · 01/01/2024 13:30

Cheeky wipes. They are amazing. Reduce your waste and increase your bank balance!

Reusable wipes or reusable wipes.

They really are far far superior to packet wipe. We had cheeky wipes, muslinz wipes and the nappy lady wipes. Our favourite all rounder in the muslinz wipes they are a bit bigger than the cheeky wipes. The nappy lady ones have fleece on one side and flannel on the other and are great for hands and faces and for in the path. We have been using them for 3 years and you wouldn't realise it.

We have used disposables when travelling and end up using half a packet of wipes for things that take 1 or 2 cloth wipes.

I have always used fred&flo unscented wipes and find them as good as any.

Devilsmommy · 01/01/2024 14:28

I buy pampers fresh clean wipes in bulk on Amazon. They're the only ones that don't rip easy and are actually wet feeling

whoactuallyreallycares · 01/01/2024 14:31

Recently picked up Sainsburys Little Ones ‘dupe’ of the water wipes and they are brilliant! Don’t rip and aren’t too wet/dry. Pampers sensitive are brilliant and fairly cheap in home bargains / B&M / Asda if you like ‘wet’ ones!

MyLadyTheKingsMother · 01/01/2024 14:43

I bought 2 packs of 12 flannels two different colours, one for bottoms the other for hands and faces.

MadamVastra · 01/01/2024 14:44

Another flannel vote

greenacrylicpaint · 01/01/2024 14:47

flannels & warm water
we used wipes very rarely, flannel in a zip lock bag for when out and about.

WavingCatsandDogs · 01/01/2024 14:48

We used washable wipes, I used camomile tea to soak them in and had a batch in a Tupperware. If they were really cold I'd pop them in the microwave. 😊

Theicingonthecake · 01/01/2024 14:59

Hiya I get a box of the pink packet ‘sensitive’ wipes from homey bs they’re really cheap, I find them better than aldis and they are nice and wet and don’t seem to stick together when you only want one out x

Danikm151 · 01/01/2024 15:05

Pampers harmonie wipes are great!
