My child never ever sits still

My DS is 7 and he is the most fidgety child I have ever come across. At home he doesn't sit still for more than 30 seconds, when we're out he struggles to walk any distance without messing about (dancing, pretending to score a footy goal etc etc)

I've always just thought he was an energetic child, at school he is doing great academically. We get the odd comment from teachers about him being wriggly and occasionally a bit 'overly energetic' but it doesn't seem to be affecting his ability to learn.

He just moves around A LOT and talks non stop.

I'm aware this may be my issue, I'm an introvert and sometimes really just find myself need peace and quiet. It's probably exacerbated today and it's just been me and him (his dad and older brother are elsewhere). We've had a lovely day, he absolutely the funniest most loving child, I just am finding him exhausting this evening.

Not sure what I'm asking - I guess I'm wondering whether it's me that needs to learn to be more tolerant, or whether it is anything that should be addressed...

I have a seven year old exactly like this. I find it quite draining really, as every activity last ten minutes max before they are onto the next thing or leaping about.

@mamacorn1 I feel you, but it is also nice to hear it's not just me!!

I'm lucky that both he and my eldest play a lot of sport so they're often entertaining each other doing that. If he's not here though it is constant questions, activities and finding ways to entertain him.

My daughter is like this. Now 9. It’s exhausting. She did receive a diagnosis of autism this past summer. But I know other autistic children who can stay still and I’m sure there are NT children who can’t.

@TedLasto I can only hope it gets better as he gets older. We make sure he does a lot of physical activity in the week, but most of his clubs / training have been off over the holidays, I imagine that's had an impact
