I want my three year old to stay this age

Not meant in a goady way at all. We've had our fair share of difficult times with my dd. BUT.

This age (3.5) has been just lovely and so much fun and I finally know what people mean when they say don't wish away the time. School in September and I will really miss her.

Anyone else like this age?

I feel the same. I really struggled when they were younger but this age is adorable

Thaimoon · 28/12/2023 20:55

Me too. I have a newborn and it's reminded me how difficult I found the baby stage. This is a breeze in comparison!

Ah, for me it's the baby stage. He was such a sweet baby and cute toddler, then overnight on his third birthday turned into a nightmare. Like WTAF nightmare. I am currently on mat leave with my second, and I wish I didn't drop nursery days for my 3yo..
My 5 months old on the other hand is lovely and sweet and very huggable. I know what you mean.

Guess I got lucky with this stage then, they are all so different. Wish I could enjoy the baby stage more but it makes me anxious and the sleep deprivation is so tough.

Yes I love it, we have such great conversations. I’m still the centre of his world though I can see it expanding daily and growing to include things that I can’t share. I’m constantly amazed at the ways he’s like me and the ways he’s not. I just try to write down bits I remember so I can look back one day.

Puppalicious · 28/12/2023 21:11

It’s a lovely age, as is 4.

mollyfolk · 28/12/2023 21:17

3&4 are lovely ages. I always want to freeze them where they are but every age is lovely in it’s own way.

ErrolTheRednosedDragon · 28/12/2023 21:21

Yes, it's a lovely age - but then so was 4, 5, 6 .... all the way through teens and into adulthood.Smile

Torchdino · 28/12/2023 21:23

I really disliked newborn to around 1- obviously loved elements but overall enjoy it much more as time goes on. I loved 3 and was worried about starting school, but just keeps getting better and better.

I look back so nostalgically to this age. I love my kids whatever age they are, but I loved my time with them when they were little so much. Well done for treasuring the moment while you're living it. I did too. Lots of people moan about it until it's past then realise how special it was.

This is lovely, and also true.

I found that they just got better & better. They continue to be cute but more capable and there is more you can do with them and then, as they move out of cuteness, it is more companionship. DC1 is 14 now and is delightful about 10x as often as she is teenager-y

Yes - honestly I know this is no help, but I still miss it!! I loved that preschool year. They’re 7 and 10 now.

Would have loved another, but it didn’t happen.

I did this too - still do. We all love looking back on it!

It is a lovely age but like Errol I've enjoyed all of the ages. I liked it when they went to school and they were making friends and learning things, it's lovely.

I liked it when they did activities and became accomplished at things. I liked it when they discovered reading was great and read books I had read as a child.

Now my oldest is at university in the town I grew up in. I'm loving that!

itsmyp4rty · 29/12/2023 09:31

Baby stage was the worst by miles for me, just horrible. Once they start talking and you can really see their personality it's lovely, 3 and 4 were great ages. But IME it stays lovely then, my nearly adult child amazes me all the time, we get on great and still do loads together.

ErrolTheRednosedDragon · 29/12/2023 09:50

Yes, I think for quite a lot of little ones and their parents the watershed is when they start to be able to talk - it must be so bloody frustrating for pre-verbal babies and toddlers, no wonder they tantrum!

ivfbabymomma1 · 29/12/2023 10:25

I feel exactly the same! My DS is 4, and it's just the most lovely age! I will say he started school in sept and it's made some really positive changes for him and he's so happy so don't fear school! (I did, I cried all summer)
