My three year old is horrendous - anyone else?

I am actually in tears which feels so weak somehow but he’s been awful. Constantly destroying things - things like grabbing the toilet roll and running with it so it’s all over the house, trying to mess about with his sisters toys, throwing things, constant wetting his pants, pouring drinks on the floor.

I can’t wait for nursery to start again. He feels absolutely feral at the moment.

Mine was an angel til he was 3. You have all my sympathy. Now he's 14 😬

DS2 was a threenager too, what an awful time that was! 14mo DS3 is DS2's carbon copy too, so I'm getting the armour out ready... thoughts and prayers OP and everyone else on here who's endured a 3yo 😅😅

I’ve got that cookbook, I’m on it! I had a section too and my wound got infected because I did too much so don’t make that mistake!

Tbh most 3 year olds are horrendous and extremely hard work! 3 out of my 4 were! Hang in there, they grow out of it!

Sorry to hear that, that must have been so painful. Luckily my dh is on extended pat leave so he's doing literally everything except breastfeeding and bedtime reading. I'm still exhausted tho...!

I really dislike age 3. DS1 (3.5) is cocky, destructive, demanding and doesn’t care about any consequences or rewards. It’s a total slog parenting him currently. He was an absolutely delightful toddler as well until he hit about 2y10m. I can’t wait for pre school to start again in January quite frankly.

Therainfallingdownonme · 29/12/2023 13:57

It’s hard work @VivaVivaa . The annoying thing is I actually looked forward to three as I thought verbal skills would be better and we could reason a bit. Well we can but I get verbal abuse Hmm On balance though I found two worse. Today hasn’t been too bad. A bit of a tantrum at the end of ice skating but sat nicely in M & S cafe and behaved well mostly - and no wee accidents (yet.) I still can’t wait for nursery next week though. And then I feel so horribly guilty as DD (5 months) is just so sweet and lovely and no trouble!

Omg I'm glad I'm not on my own. DD (3.5) is a terror. Throwing things, whinging and sometimes even hitting. She does not care about consequences. She's just started yelling "I don't care, I hate you" which is charming.

However we are on holiday abroad for Christmas and there is no routine or familiarity. She's also shattered.

I have actually had family tell me what a nightmare she'll be when she's older. Can someone tell me they had a nightmare 3yo that turned out a lovely teen? Xmas Confused

Therainfallingdownonme · 29/12/2023 14:13

That’s helpful Hmm and untrue. I definitely have friends who had terrors as three year olds who are lovely children now.

Mine fell asleep on the way back - only for twenty minutes - but is now being horrible and shouting NO at me!
