To start combi feeding after FF for 2 weeks

Looking for any stories of people who've done similar!

My dd was born early December, and I breastfed exclusively for three days. She lost no weight, but the latch was super painful and by the time lactation support came to fix it the damage to my nipples was already bad enough that it hurt with a correct latch. Add onto this hormones and sleep deprivation and we decided to switch to FF on day 4. My first (ds) was FF due to cleft palate, so I know it's a great alternative.

Two weeks later, engorgement has gone down, but I'm wondering whether I can/should add in some breastfeeds as I am still producing milk. I wouldn't want to exclusively breastfeed, but wondering if I could get to combi feeding level? I have tried latching her and she does still latch and feed, but only for a few minutes at a time before unlatching.

Any advice appreciated!

You could pump and put in a bottle if you want to.

Why not give it a try? Can’t see a down side to trying and seeing how it works out.

If you're considering BF, I would make sure you start feeding baby or pumping ASAP to make sure you don't lose your supply. Once it's gone, it's gone. I don't see any harm in trying. If it doesn't work out, stick to FF.
