Has anyone used a Next 2 Me designed for babies over 6 months? Something like this?

I’ve never really heard anyone talk about them.

My baby is 10 months. Starts off in her cot in her room but usually ends up in our bed at some point in the early hours once she starts waking more frequently.

If anyone has used one, any recommendations would be gratefully received. I didn’t really rate the mattress on the Chicco Next2Me that we used up to 5 months. Thanks!

My intention is still that the baby spends the first bit of the night (up until 3am at the earliest) in her room and cot. She inevitably ends up in our room at that point, so I thought it might be a way to enable us all to sleep better at this point, while still having separate bed spaces.

Surely at that age (or soon) she'll be able to climb out (the wrong side) of the crib if the mattress is on the high setting? From a safety point of view I don't think it's a good idea.

ShutterHaze · 26/12/2023 11:07

Yes, good point @Batbatbatty ! It seemed a bit too good to be true…

I have it and I like it, I'm a really light sleeper so would wake if DD tried to climb out, she'd have to clamber over me anyway.

DD 11 months has decided though, that it's not acceptable to be 5cm away from me and still wants to be in the bed with me 🙄

Also got mine second hand on vinted.

Also the side only stays down when it's attached to your bed

ShutterHaze · 26/12/2023 15:04

That’s really helpful, thanks @Lammveg. I’m thinking it’s not quite what I’m looking for as it’s mainly for when I need to get up earlier than DD but DH is still in bed. He’s a heavier sleeper than me so him bed sharing with her is wouldn’t work.

Hey, I have a 7 month old DD and we started with the small next to me cot when she was born and then moved on to this “forever” model when she was around 4 or 5 months old as she was outgrowing the small one.

I really rate it! Granted that my DD isn’t yet pulling herself up or crawling well, but the sides are much higher than the newborn chicco next to me, and you can adjust the height of the adjustable panel and fix it in place with straps when it is attached to the bed. We have ours all the way down while she can’t crawl out but I may raise it a bit to stop her crawling out and into our bed when she is at that stage. I hope that makes sense - it’s a bit hard to describe.

I will say that the mattress is super firm. We bought a replacement mattress (not from chicco) for the original next to me as it was a hand me down, and it was nothing like this. I can only imagine that the chicco ones are all like this though and DD doesn’t seem to mind.

We use this bed with my 16 month old snd we love it.

She's not tried to climb out. The sides are fairly high.

You can also take the legs off and use as a floor bed for when they're a bit older.

I recommend

@polarbearoverthere @crostini Really helpful - thanks! Good to hear positive reviews
