What do five month olds like to do?

i feel I should know as have other children and therein lies the problem. When they are around she is largely ignored. She doesn’t seem to mind.

When it’s just us she does do things for ‘her’: baby swimming and baby sensory which she seems to enjoy but the rest of the time I just seem to spend holding her while she arches her back and tries to get free but also doesn’t like being put down Hmm

Does anyone do activities with their baby? I’ve really neglected tummy time but she is held a lot.

Most of the time my little girl is on her playmat grabbing at things and practising her rolling, she does a lot of tummy time, loves playing peekaboo and has a couple
of toys she kind of plays with but mainly just tries to eat them.

A lot of the time I’ll just walk her wherever I’m going and narrate what I’m doing, include her in conversations etc.

Granted I don’t have other children!

It is a funny age when they’re more capable but not quite old enough to properly play!

I also have a 5 month old and a 3 yo. I’d forgotten how rough this age is for this exact reason. Angry, immobile potato. I just try and get out as much as possible. In the house mine will tolerate a bit of floor time if just woken up and fed. Will also tolerate the jumperoo, sometimes for quite a while if I put the TV on time it right. Otherwise I seem to spend my time carrying him round the house trying to do jobs with one hand. If he’s in the mood he’ll tolerate being on my back in the sling inside, but that is quite hit and miss!

Roll on crawling.

My LO is 5 months old too and I do find it hard to keep him entertained especially as the day goes on…..I think it’s such a strange little age. He’s old enough and aware enough to want to be into everything but lacks the physical ability to do so…..so you end up with a frustrated little strop thrower.

My LO absolutely loves being sang to face to face with movements to nursery rhymes (granted that can’t be done all day…I’d lose my mind) but could be something other children could get involved with too depending on ages.

Late afternoon is when the grumps kicks in and I’m not ashamed to admit that 20/30 mins of Ms Rachel goes on. If it means I can drink a cup of tea and not have to sing Yankee Doodle for the 92992 time that day I’m all for it……
