DS - 6 years and still wets at night

We are not making an issue of this at home but there has been no improvement for about a year. He is a really heavy sleeper - could this be the reason or am I just kidding myself? Has anyone else had to deal with this recently and what worked? Thank you

How often, Ds was still a regular wetter at that age, at 11 it is few and far between and only when he is really tired and drunk toomuch late on. I think it is because he is a heavy sleeper.

Almost every night. We use pyjama pants and they are heavy every morning (and sometimes don't cope and the bed is wet).

On a practical note pampers bed mats are good under the sheets.

Have you seen the doc it might be worth checking with the doc. they may discover a reason. Does DS voice any concerns about going to bed, scared in the night etc , I was a bed wetter and I swear it was becasue I was too scared to get out o bed so I just didn't wake up. PJ pants may be encourgaing him IYKWIM, perhaps have a chat and say right we are going to try it without them, so you will have to get up and go. My mum used to lift me before she went to bed but I don't know if it was a help or a hindrence.

It is probably worth having a word with your GP because I think that 6 is the age at which they will consider it a treatable problem, and there are various strategies and treatments that can be tried.

I had this problem as a kid, and only grew out of it as a teenager....
I think ( i was a heavy sleeper) my mum getting me out of bed last thing really helped and the no drink before bed rule too.
I was so busy dreaming that i would dream i was on the toilet and just 'go', and woke as i was doing it in the bed but too late to stop the flow....
Test revealed nothing, i just had to learn to manage my body.... i use to take a star chart to the clinic every couple of weeks. nothing if i wet, red star if dry, yellow if dry next night too, gold if 3 nights !! i loved seeing the stars building up .
My dad was a bed wetter to, so i think it is inherited and we fight the enevitable.
Good luck
