Not doing a degree (already got one) but just signed up for an openings course, just so I can see if I can fit it in round 3 kids. So far, so good. Seemed to me a 6 month course for £99 was a good way to see if i'm cut out for study again - I really want to do my masters.

I did an openings to and it was a good taster. try one of those or a level 1 course and go for it. You can then work out if you can do more or less onthe next cycle.

I am now doing a distance learning degree through another Uni, it is full time so I will have a degree in 3 years. Big comitment but I do study when the kids are in bed or at activities and I am waiting to collect htme. Because of the openings course I knew I could do it and how it would fit in.

Did my first degree, MA & PhD at a brick uni. Currently doing another degree through the OU - all fine if you can allocate specific time to do the work and stick to it (making relatives and friends understand that you are 'working' and getting them to stay way/not call, etc can be very difficult for some people). Otherwise, I am enjoying it - just hate the fact that it's gonna take me years before I am qualified.

I am currently on my 2nd year of study with the open university. It is a great course however I am stressed to bits. I have a young child and work part time (not out of choice as where I live is expensive but has excellent schools). Independent learning with the OU is fantastic and offers great rewards that keep you keen if you have a good tutor. The only regret I have is that it keeps me active...however sometimes too active as I find it a problem to prioritise, this will happen with any degree course as it is heavy because it is a degree. I have to admit I find OU are very good. However it can be hard going with retired males in my course as they dominate everyone as they are always way ahead....not helpful.

You are bonkers! but so are the rest of us.

I am on the second year of an ou degree and am trying to juggle it with 3 dc (4, 2, 2wks) new baby brain and possible onset of 2nd bout of PND. It can be done, but you do need to be strict with yourself. It is amazing the effect of a looming deadline though!

And it helps if you don't allow yourself to be distracted by mn

I'm just finishing my degree.

ds was 6 months when I started it & dd was 3.6.

It was tough going at times but I managed....and so will you
