Breast feeding wanting to bottle feed

My baby used to take bottles as well as breast feed until he was about 2 months old. Since then bottles are big no. Now he's 8 months, I'm physically and mentally exhausted and the constant breast feeding isn't helping. I'm wanting to start bottle feeding but he's just not having any of it. I've tried all different bottle/cups, which he will take water or baby juice from. But is angry as soon as I put milk in them. I've tried using expressed milk and different formulas. Is there any advice on how I can help him transition? For all of our sakes!

Bumping because in same boat. Won’t take a bottle from mom or dad

Have you tried small medicine cups?

Granted, my 2 kids were a lot younger when I used them (think weeks old), but they might be worth trying.

Another thing....that I might get flamed for is, leave baby to get a bit hungry and then try again with bottle.

We were in this situation. my daughter accepted a bottle from 3 weeks but reflux and allergies caused repeated bottle aversions. We got over it a few times by picking a good week and offering 1oz of milk in a bottle after each breastfeeding and she linked the bottle more with breastfeeding and within 3 days she accepted the bottle. I would probably try to avoid using only milk in the bottle whilst to try to get them to take the bottle again. You want them to link the bottle with milk and not water.

At 8 months she completely refused anything other than a breastfeed. She would try to flip out of my arms if I held a bottle. By 10 months we had made no progress and I had to stop breastfeeding. We ran out of time and had to do it cold turkey as I was admitted into hospital. She went 26h with a small amount of wet food to keep her with some hydration. She went to nursery and accepted the bottle from them and continued to be formula and bottle fed until 2. She went on to allergy formula which tastes horrible so to normalise the taste to her we used the formula in her food which I think made a difference in her accepting it. Her dietitian was very surprised that we managed to transition a ebf on to an amino acid formula at 10 months!
