Bouncer advice please…

Hi MNetters ! I have a 6 week old with reflux-holding him upright is helping at least partially and we are thinking of getting a bouncer to do that for more time (while following guidelines). Baby Bjorn is out of budget but am hoping people can recommend something more budget-ideally within 50 quid but could maybe consider upto 100 quid…ideally should be able to function without a bouncer mode too (stationary). I can see a Red Kite Baya bouncer and a Kinderkraft mimi bouncer which look similar and hoping somebody can share if these are safe and good enough (not too many reviews on Amazon).

I'm also wondering, can a newborn go into the upright modes ? Also how important is having various degrees of recline ?

Thanks in advance…

If you really like the look of the baby Bjorn ones definitely have a look on Vinted. I’ve had two off there in brilliant condition with the toy bar for around £60/70 each. Both arrived in the original box too. There’s quite a few on there at the minute.

Ive had a Quick Look at the others you suggested. They do look similar to the Bjorn one but I’ve not owned one to offer a review.

My LO is 5 months now and still suffers from reflux and hasn’t used any other setting bar the full incline for a while now (which is still reclined somewhat but doesn’t allow the head to flop forward if that makes sense)

The maxi cosi Loa looks similar to babybjorn and gets good reviews. It’s eco fabrics and well Known brand. £59.99 at John Lewis

We just went with the basic on from Argos. She didn't get a huge amount of use out of it as her reflux meant she screamed if she was put down. When she was bigger she liked chewing of the the bar that when across it with dangly bits on but not when sat in the chair

But second looking at second hand babybjorn, we used ours daily for almost 2 years! Baby bouncer first, then small toddler chair Ds used for milk after nap

We bought a baby bjorn one second hand for about £40 I think. DS had reflux too and it was really handy to pop him in there for a while after feeds when I needed free arms.

I have the babylo gravity bouncer, it’s the exact same profile as the, it’s £50 on Amazon. All parts are washable. I’m actually sticking it on Vinted after Christmas as my LO has outgrown it but that might be too late for you. Mine has lasted and still going strong with two reflux babies.

@Thelazygardener thanks for the input-it’s not that I like the look of babybjorn particularly-it just seems upright and very popular. At what age can full incline be used-is it suitable for newborns ? Hope your LO is better now…

We did this as well.
We've had this one for DS: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8794590?clickSR=slp:term:bouncy%20chair:1:52:1
But then I tripped over it, fell on it and broke it when DS was about 10 months old (he wasn't in it).
And this one for DD: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4498498?clickSR=slp:term:bouncy%20chair:6:52:2https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8794590?clickSR=slp:term:bouncy%20chair:1:52:1
The position for the second one was more laid back so for reflux I'd recommend the cheaper one. DS really loved his bouncy chair.

@monpetitlapin thanks ! Can I clarify-did you LO have reflux and in that case, was it upright enough to help-in the pictures, it does not look very upright, hence the question ?

We borrowed the baby born from a friend for DS1, he didn’t have a diagnosis of reflux but was very sicky and being upright did make a difference. I can’t remember when we got to the most inclined setting but we started on lowest setting and quickly moved through them.

I have no pictures of him in it beyond about 4 months so I think this is when we stopped using it as he had started to prefer rolling around on the floor.

For DS2 we have bought the red kite baya as friend now using baby bjorn again and I couldn’t justify the price of getting one. We haven’t used it yet but the red kite one seems fine, the fabric feels slightly lower quality but still don’t feel the baby bjorn is worth the significant price jump.
