How much milk for a 14 month?

Hello! No longer bf baby but wondered how much cows milk my baby should be having now. We do one cup of milk in the morning, and one just before bed.

I find the guidance confusing but we are currently doing 300ml. 100ml in the morning and 200ml at night. In the day she tends to have 1-2 yogurts, and sometimes a bit of cheddar cheese with a sandwich but not every day.

Any advice really appreciated

What you are doing sounds fine (I have a 14m old)

happy to be correct if wrong but I think after one they technically don’t need milk provided they are getting calcium from other foods - cheese yoghurts etc however milk is a good and source of calcium if baby drinks it 😄

I don't think there's a set amount. They don't even need to have milk as a drink as long as they have calcium and vit d in other things. Mine never drank milk after stopping breastfeeding..they just had things like milk in cereal/porridge and yogurt etc. We saw a dietician with my first DD for allergies and they weren't concerned at all with the lack of milk. If anything I'm sure after they stop having fortified formula or breastmilk they say not to have too much dairy or milk etc as it can reduce other vitamins like iron from being absorbed as much.

Sounds fine to me.

i just did what I wanted because I was so over "NHS guidance" by the time DD was a year old...

She had a bottle in the morning first thing and a cereal/toast breakfast at 9am and one bottle before bed.
We offered 280ml for both: she'd drink anywhere between 100ml and all depending on the day.

By 18m she'd dropped the morning she's almost 2 and we still give a full bottle before bed - she's naturally dropping that now too. She eat a lot today and had about 50ml before bed...

My daughter was still mostly formula fed at 14 months as she was very slow to engage with weaning but my daughter has 500ml oat milk a day since 20 months and our dietitian says at this amount she doesn't need to calculate the calcium in her diet. If she dropped significantly below this I guess 300-350ml and less she would like to check she is getting other sources of calcium in her diet. She has a very limited diet and oat milk is her only source of "dairy" all other alternatives clashes with other allergies. She also is a very poor eater too but does have a variety of veg in her diet if she is in an eating mood!

Thanks all for your helpful comments. My Dc is a hoover so I’m concerned about her having too much milk and Then instead not enough nutrients from her foods. She doesn’t seem to turn anything down. I didn’t make this clear in my op, sorry.

350 mg of calcium which would mean 300 ml of cow milk if not having other sources.

This is really helpful

My daughter at 14 months was getting all of her nutrition from milk and the dietician was happy!
