6 month sleep regression? Severe sleep deprivation!!

Hi,

DD is 6 months old and seems to be going through some sort of sleep regression. Naps during the day are no more than 2x1 hour naps and that’s only if she’s being held. I have tried numerous times putting her in her cot and she either screams until she is nearly sick or sleeps no more than 10 mins and then is awake. At night she won’t go down until 10pm (previously went down at 7pm). She then very quickly stirs and constantly needs her dummy replaced to re settled every 20-30 mins. Debating taking the dummy away at this point as I’m not sure it’s doing more harm than good. I have tried giving it time and letting her re-settle herself to see if she will go back to sleep on her own but she won’t.

I am absolutely exhausted from it all. My partner is brilliant, very helpful during the day and does his fair share, however at night is dead to the world. DD will cry every 20-30 mins to be resettled or to have a feed. My partner will never wake to it, not even really stir. My partner has a 4 year old son from a previous relationship who will still call out at times in the night but my partner will hear that and is up like a shot. Am starting to wonder if my partner is just so use to me doing it all he subconsciously blocks out DD stirring. He assures me he is not pretending to be asleep to get out of doing anything. It is really getting me down. My partner will do feeds in the night if I wake him and has said wake me when she stirs and I’ll sort to DD but I know it will take more time to wake him and for him to come around than it will go resettle the baby. He also said go and sleep in the spare room and he will have to deal with the baby if she wakes, even if she’s screaming. I just don’t think my mind will relax enough to be able to do that and I still think being in the spare room I’ll hear DD before partner does.

Just hoping someone can maybe give advice or assure me things will get better. GP is aware of how I am struggling to sleep/go back off to sleep. Sleep deprivation has gotten so bad I’m getting palpitations. I try napping during the day if DD goes down but she’s up so quickly and I don’t feel safe napping with her on me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I really am struggling. Thanks in advance!

Try a few nights in the spare room and get a monitor to put next to your partner so it's easier for him to hear the baby!

I would also be looking at sleep training, but I know that's not for everyone.

Thanks @Writerz34 , I have thought about starting the sleep training! I’ll defo try the monitor next to my partner and try get some sleep in the spare room.
