my 1 year old is due his vaccinations but we’ve both got terrible colds! Do you think they’ll ask us to delay the immunisations?

also, how bad are the 1 year ones? I’ve heard they’re the “worst”?? What does that mean? Fever?

If your child has a fever they wont give them. If it’s just a cold then they will. To delay them unnecessarily puts the child at risk of nasty diseases.

Depends on how ill. I need to be in bed level I would delay. I can cope with the day but don't feel great should be fine.

Two of the 1y immunisations can make them feel a little poorly. A fever, feeling a bit off and wanting cuddles. The effect of the mmr can take a week or two to finish - not continuous but a day or so after the injection and potentially two further days as you build the immunity for the mumps and measles. They will give you a leaflet for the rough days.
It also includes the menB vaccine which can make them feel off and have a slight fever.

My daughter had them individually due to have a very strong reaction to the menb at 4 months. She actually had the MMR at the same time at chicken pox. She had 2 spots on her hair that we didn't attribute to anything on the Sunday. The vaccine on the Monday and obvious chicken pox spots on the Tuesday. Lots of cuddles and Calpol when appropriate and she was fine. This was her first vaccine since her 4 month ones that put her in paeds so we were very relieved that it went ok

I think all babies react differently. I was really lucky as the 1 year ones were the only ones that he reacted to. And Even then it was just that he was tired and grumpy. I don't think a cold would be a reason to not give it tbh

My LO has just had his 1 year injections.

He was given 4. One in an arm and one in a leg (on the same side) and then two in the other leg.
I was quite surprised as I had forgotten (he is my third baby) I couldn't remember it being 4 I must have blanked it from my memory!
Anyway, over in seconds, not very nice obviously but nothing that a cheeky chocolate button didn't sort out quickly.
Bit of a temperature afterwards but calpol brought this down. No real other side effects.

I would definitely delay.
