DD is just over 2 weeks old and seems to be struggling really bad with wind.
she’s formula fed (aptamil) and is drinking fine, but after every feed she seems in so much pain with wind. I’ve tried every single position there is for winding, I’ve tried putting DD down and trying again, I’ve tried the bicycle legs, tummy massages, keeping her upright during and after feeds, even propping her moses basket upright. She cries every single time I put her down and I feel it’s because she’s so uncomfortable. It’s only when held that she seems to settle down better until she starts crying again in pain. She brings her legs up and arches her back too and frequently makes straining noises throughout the day and night. She’s sick now and again too so I’m wondering whether she may have reflux. DD can burp like 3-4 times after a bottle and STILL be absolutely full of wind!!😭 I’ve also been trying infacol for the last few days but it doesn’t seem to be making a difference 😩

does anyone have any advice? I’m literally desperate for any sort of relief I can give DD😩

I had similar with DD who is now 4 months old. She had / has reflux and is on baby Gaviscon prescribed by GP. Uppy time min 20mins after each feed, pace feed (oz then stop), wind part way through feed too and feed her as upright as you can - high cradle hold. When making her feeds too we swirl to mix rather than shake and use TT anti colic bottles. Massaging DD tummy too helps - clockwise direction)

Infacol did nothing for us I'm afraid as we started with that thinking it was colic.

We had similar with DS. We switched his formula from aptamil to hipp organic and it helped with him a little bit. We also found out he had tongue tie which caused him to swallow more air. We even saw a cranial osteo too and she definitely helped. He seemed to get much better once he hit 4 months though. It does seem a while away whilst you're in the midst of it but it does get better I promise.

I really feel for you as I had this with my first. These were the things that worked:
MAM anti colic bottles - these are amazing and stop them swallowing so much wind when they feed
changing formula - but in all honesty I think Aptamil was the one I found to be best so this might not help
Baby massage with bicycling legs etc after a warm bath
A dummy - to stop her over feeding while comfort sucking - she was doing this loads which meant she was having too much and getting uncomfortable

And last but not least (don’t judge me as I went mad googling everything that might help) in the end I found this. I want to preface this by saying that this is a very weird American gadget which I don’t think they sell in uk pharmacies but honestly, for us, it was a total lifesaver. And I liked the fact that it doesn’t involve any drugs (we were giving ours gaviscon and all the rest of the things you say but in the end it was only this that worked best and gave her relief from all the wind in her tummy!)

Also, I can promise you this will get better and in likelihood will only last a few weeks - but I know that’s no help when you’re in it!

Try paced feeding and smaller amounts in the bottles to start with.
Also I’ve never had a newborn happy to be put down.

It's pretty normal for a newborn I believe, especially with bottles. You just have to keep winding them for ages and ages after each feed. Hold upright with head over your shoulder, pat their back and pace around... for literally half an hour.

I didn't have the strength/stamina for it after my c section with dd so dh had to do all the pacing.

It definitely gets a bit better after about 1-2mo

Wow never seen this tool before but I might get it for dc2.

Don't read the reviews though, I just did and they were so graphic I feel a bit sick now lol

@Notaclue23 hi and so sorry to read about your little one! We had it with our DS, he was premature and breast fed, but constantly was in pain, making these growling noises, crying, even on the breast. We tried everything didn't help. GO prescribed some gaviscon and other meds (sorry was years ago), but they made no difference. When he was 3m okd we went to a private kids hospital, paid a fortune, but dr said he has silent reflux (he wasn't bringing milk back), which is often with premmies. He prescribed pills that GP wouldn't as they are adult type (just lower dose), changed other medication.. That completely changed him!! And then dr asked to start on solid food earlier a bit.
So I feel your pain, maybe if with weeks or 2 months no improvement, do try different GP/ hospitals

@Mummymummy89 sorry I put you through that LOL

@Mummymummy89 sorry I put you through that LOL

Haha I showed it to dh and he said he's got some American colleagues who recommended the same thing!

Then I read him out a couple of the reviews that explained about poo coming out with the wind and we were both like... erm are we ready for another baby lol (dc2 due in 2 weeks!!)
