19 month old suddenly refusing cows milk

Hi all,

My LG has now went to bed 3rd day in a row with not one oz of milk in her. She usually has a few ozs as soon as she gets up and a bottle before bed and loved it up until 3 days ago.

She cries even seeing the bottle now and won’t have it near her. I am totally baffled.

Anyone else experience this? I think 19 months is still way too early to be totally weaned off it.

Both of mine dropped their bottles by around 16/17 months by their own choice - I couldn't see the point in continuing to make bottles to throw it down the drain.

I'm assuming she eats a normal diet? I don't think they need milk if they do.

Mine stopped having a bottle before bed at 8 months which is totally normal in the country I am in. Don't think it's needed it all so wouldn't worry about it

My 20 month old daughter hasn’t routinely taken a bottle since she was about 14 months. Sometimes she asks for milk and she has some in a cup when she has a snack before bedtime. As long as she’s not hungry it doesn’t bother me - she has porridge made with milk most mornings and eats plenty of cheese and yoghurt so not worried about her calcium intake.

NHS advice is to drop bottles at 12 months. She needs 350 mg of calcium now. Calcium from milk in cereal and custard, yoghurt and cheese all count.

Does she eat any cheese? Yogurt? If yes she is getting her milk that way.

It’s not a requirement to drinks another animal’s milk we were never meant to, she should have a good diet anyway.

My little boy still has some in the morning and evening - sometimes a bottles and sometimes barely a few sips.

I'd happily drop it (as long as he gets better at drinking water, because otherwise I'd be worried about his liquid intake!!)

Thanks everyone! Clearly stressing unnecessarily and it looks like shes actually done well having it until 19 months! Yes she loves her cheese and yoghurts etc so I won’t offer it to her again unless she asks :)

They are fickle things, I'd try again in a few days.

Honestly, this ^ My son went through a full month of refusing bananas; he now once again demands them multiple times a day.
