I've just got my nappies (very excited) I only ordered a couple of each type just in case.
The Bumgenius v3 look very slim and straight forward but the fluffles size 1 and bumbles btp are so bulky and my two week old, 7lbs little girls legs seem vey far apart and just kind od sticking up into the air. Is that okay or does she need to grow a bit beofre using them?
I was planning to use the fluffles / bumbles at night but that means she will have to sleep with her bottom higher than her head, is this a problem?
Also do I really need to wash coloured bumgenius seperately from whites?

no it's not a problem they just look strange lol

I wash all my nappies together, including coloured bumgenius and whites, with no probs

Washables do look weird on newborns, but apparently having their legs wedged apart is actually GOOD for hip alignment, doctors recommend them for babies who have that hip problem which I can't recall the name of
I was in huge terry nappies from birth, and don't have bandy legs

ds always slept with his bum in the air..... i worried about it to...... but then my mum reminded me that my terry toweling nappies as a baby were twice as bulky and i (and every other baby) was ok.

my daughter sleeps in a fluffle boosted with a terry face cloth and a fleece wrap, sovery bulky. To get round your problem we folded up a blanket to about an inch thick. Her body above the nappy rests on the blanket, nappy downwards on the mattress.

I can vouch that babies with congenital hip problems are advised to wear double (disposable) nappies. My mother muttered something about my baby ending up with bandy legs due to the nappies and I reminded her we don't know anyone like that and most people aged 25+ probably wore terries. I said bandy legidness was probably due to malnutrition and rickets . she admitted I was right
