March baby clothes

I am due mid March with my first baby and am wondering what clothes and how much I actually need. I’m thinking for the newborn stage longer sleeves and some warmer clothes as it will most likely still be pretty cold but any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, congratulations!

I'm also due in March, though with #2... first baby was an October birthday so I'm imagining similar.

I think I mainly used short sleeve vests under long sleeved babygrows / onesies.

Best buy for the time of year I felt was a car seat wrap to keep cosy in and out.

I had a March baby.

Honestly don’t over think it. Buy the standard baby gear (shortsleeved vests, onesies), have a couple of cardigans to hand, 2/3 hats, car seat wrap (tuppence and crumble) and an extra blanket stashed under the pram.

I had a snow suit for DS but it was a bloody faff getting him in it and didn’t keep him anyway warmer than plenty of thinner layers did.

My newborn lived in sleepsuits. You’ll likely be gifted lots of cute outfits but there is so much spit up and poonamis, it’s easier just to whip them in and out of a sleepsuit (zippered ones are the way to go!).

Second the car seat wrap, a lot of winter clothes are too bulky for car seats and are a faff to take on and off.

Thanks already. I have invested from Vinted in a few zip sleepsuits which seem very useful and just so basics. I will look in to the car seat wrap.

I was thinking that I would skip the whole snow suit thing anyway as I know they can be a total pain to get a newborn in and out of as well.

Congrats! Im also due end of March with number 2, although number 1 was born during the 2021 heatwave so totally different scenario! Car seat wraps arent really recommended although i know lots of people who use them - babies can overheat really easily in a car seat plus they arent crash tested with the seat. A lovely blanket will be more than enough to nip baby out of the house and into the car seat, especially if its tucked in around baby and their toes. Plus its much easier to remove if baby starts to get hot. There's a facebok group called Car Seat Safety UK that has some good info on keeping babies warm and safe in the car.
