Transferring school reception age

DS has started in reception this year. We initially couldn't decide between two schools, one was larger and very academically focused, good school grounds and up to date website etc but further from home. The other was smaller, closer, seemed more traditional and old school type vibes of classroom and teaching.

We decided on the latter as it seemed a bit more friendly and child focused. DS enjoys school and seems to be doing well academically within the class however Im starting to get a gut feeling I made a mistake. The building seems very old and a bit run down, they don't really use technology for much teaching or communicating with parents, we barely get any pictures etc a lot of their resources are just very old and kind of out of date. I was looking at outcomes for the recent school leavers and children seem to do better in the other school academically and move into more grammars.

Starting to think we should move DS if possible before he gets too far in the year. DS does have a close friend in his current class but doesn't have a lot of other friends and he is quite social so I feel he would make new friends especially as it's still early in the year. Has anyone done this or had this feeling before?

To add I haven't contacted the other school yet but am hopeful there could be places as it's a bigger school
