What are your 6 year olds getting as their main Christmas present?

DD is 6 (just) and is playing with toys less than she was. She’s asked for a jigsaw for Christmas but nothing else.

I don’t really get her loads of stuff because I think it’s overwhelming for them, but I do need to get her one bigger present that is from Father Christmas.

She’s not really into one specific thing and will use pretty much anything apart from Barbies.

Has anyone got any ideas / please share what your children around the same age are getting.

Mine isn't quite 6 but he's mostly getting Lego because that's what he loves.

(Although then this morning he said that he didn't need anymore Lego because he's already got enough!)

A kids Alexa- she’s never played with toys, she likes crafts and dancing and wanted something to listen to music on - it links to her fire tablet. In the Amazon deal it was under £30.

My 6 and a half year old is obsessed with Harry Potter so we've gotten her the magical minis Hogwarts castle playset - she doesn't even know it exists so it'll be a huge surprise for her, I can't wait to see her face!

She still really into toys so getting a few things she's had her eye on, plus books (dress-up dolly sticker book, Harry Potter lego book), stationary, crafts, a hooded blanket... There's a book making kit called Bookeez that I've gotten her too which I think she'll love, she's always writing stories and drawing.

Ds is 5 and getting the bluey PlayStation game

YouAndMeAndThem · 28/11/2023 21:44

Nearly 6 year old girl here - she's asked for an Our Generation doll, wireless headphones and a lip balm lab!

Some fab ideas here, thank you.

A kids echo dot is a good one for her room as she often uses the one in the kitchen for music and I can set an alarm on it for the dark mornings.

The Harry Potter stuff is good because we’re reading the Philosopher’s Stone at the moment and she’s really enjoying it. But I think books three onwards would be too scary. So maybe encouraging the love of HP might give me an issue if I then won’t let her read most of the books?

Not much help as my nearly 6 year old wants Barbie house and if that isn't possible then a car, boat, campervan or plane. Basically anything Barbie!

Gp's are getting her some science kits as she loves experiments and things.

WhoNeedstheKwikEMart · 28/11/2023 22:32

All things Gabbys Dollhouse

WhoNeedstheKwikEMart · 28/11/2023 22:34

Also Harry Potter Hedbandz (which I found really cheap and brand new on Vinted - no way was I paying £35 for it!), a Rainbow High doll, Harry Potter Lego, some Top Model colouring stuff, some LOL stuff

Gravitrax (she is 6.5 and very dextrous) and a potion-making kit, plus books and stocking fillers. Family are getting her binoculars, a crystal growing kit, more books, craft kits.

(I love these threads because kids are so different in their interests!)

Zampa · 28/11/2023 22:59

My DDs are getting some Little Mashers t shirt design kits, an ABBA karaoke Switch game, a Barbie car, a vet kit, a science kit and Oodies.

Blessedbethefruitz · 28/11/2023 23:03

What does she do with her down time? Follow that. Would she like a big box of craft supplies - you could go mad at the works/hobbycraft and get lots of basics.

What does she do while listening to music? Dancing supplies (ribbon swirly things), more advanced craft kits, a magazine subscription?

Ds is almost 5 (probably less mature) but is begging for the little live pets lamb and his first bike. ..

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 28/11/2023 23:18

My 6.5 year old is 'desperate' for a
Bitzee
A proper lego set
A litter picker
New bedcovers
A watch
Headphones
A sparkly bag

She loves currently playing with magnatiles, and cutting out and colouring everything remotely paper based in the whole house

My DS is obsessed with HP and we’ve read the first 3 books and seen the first 3 movies. We explained to him that book 4 onwards is for bigger kids and he has accepted that no problem. So I don’t see issues with encouraging the love, it’s a great thing for kids to get into :)
