Suspect nursery is lying about naps - how to approach?

I could be wrong and I hope that I am wrong but I suspect my son’s nursery is lying about how long he naps for. They say he sleeps for 1.5 hours after lunch, the same as he does at home. When at home, we normally put him to bed around 5 hours after he wakes up and then he sleeps through. When we do the same on nursery nights after he’s apparently had a good nap, he seems shattered by bedtime and wakes multiple times throughout the night, which in the past has been typical for when he’s overtired.

I know nursery is much more stimulating and busy, but I don’t know if it’s possible for that to cause him to be overtired? If he only naps for 30 mins, I’d rather know about it so that I can adjust bedtime accordingly. However, it’s possible for me know if they’re lying or not. I don’t know what they’d have to gain by lying either, or if it’s just lazy admin. Or whether they’re just trying to keep us happy as we’ve made a bit of a fuss over his naps in the past.

How do I approach this without just massively offending them if I’m wrong? I don’t ever expect them to admit it, but if they are lying or being lazy with the admin, I want them to know I’m suspicious so that perhaps they’ll stop. I’m hoping I’m just going crazy though!

I can only say from my own experience. DD was shattered on days she'd been at nursery. It's possible your DS is overtired.

How long has this been going on for?

You say you've discussed naps with them previously, has enough time been given for him, you and nursery to settle into a pattern?

Why not just have an earlier bedtime on nursery days if he's shattered?
I know DD is usually exhausted on nursery days and will happily go to bed earlier, she doesn't stop all day when she's there so it's not surprising she's more tired.

@Gazelda @discopoodle Yes you’re both right, I will definitely be trialling earlier bedtimes on nursery days to see if it helps him have more settled nights.

@Gazelda I feel like it’s been going on for a couple of weeks but he’s been at nursery for 4 months now. I think I’m only now suspecting it because his sleep used to be dreadful all the time, so it was less noticeably different on nursery days but he’s started sleeping through when at home now so it’s more of a stark difference.

Just put him to bed earlier. I doubt they're lying, why would they? Nursery is exhausting
