Warm gloves for 3yo?

Can anyone recommend any? I’ve tried numerous types but DS still complains that his hands get sore when they’re cold. We’re on the west coast of Scotland and it’s pretty cold here already.

He won’t wear mittens, must be proper gloves.

If they are single layer they will be cold still. You need something with a separate fleecy lining which traps the warm air from your hands and insulates (or something, they guy explaining it recently made a lot of sense!)

Get some fleece lined ski gloves, they are warm.

Definitely look for ski gloves - it might be difficult to find them in a size for a 3 year old. We’ve always bought ski mittens from Mountain Warehouse and Trespass and found them to be good, so I would try their gloves if you haven’t already.

just be aware that tiny ski gloves will be a bloody nightmare if making sure the lining is in the right place for all the teeny fingers and then all the fingers go in the right place every single time you need to put them on.

Mine either wore fleecd lined ski gloves or thin gloves under fleece lined mittens. They took the mittens off when doing something but had them on when just walking. Mittens were on a string in the coat so they were never dropped.

What is their issue with mittens? I ask because they are warmer, as your fingers are all together.

Hi OP, we had the same with DS, he wouldn't wear mittens, so I got him these:

@ALonelyRoad I had some like that arrive today from Next and after a walk to the park I was informed that his hands are still “very cold and that makes them sore so the new gloves are RUBBISH!” 😂😅

@MidnightOnceMore I could try mittens again with other gloves underneath. Thank you. He doesn’t like mittens because they join all your fingers together 🙄😂 he says they’re “not good for holding things!” 😂

Thanks all. I have ordered some fleece lined ski gloves and I’m fully expecting them to be nightmare 😅 the smallest size I could find in anything that looked decent was 3-5 years so we’ll see how that goes 😬

@SwimSwim thank you!! Is there plenty of space at the wrist in these? We’ve had a few similar pairs and it’s been a nightmare to even get them on!

I won't lie, with the tiny fingers, they're not the easiest to get on, but once on they're great. They're waterproof too so they keep them toasty. My 4yo still wears them now. They're not as bulky as ski gloves, so he was much happier in them.
