Unplanned pregnancy in a long distance relationship

Hi everyone, I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and in a long distance relationship with my partner in Italy. He would like that I move to his city and have the baby over there however the idea of being in a country where I cannot speak the language and have no family support is making me feel very anxious. Moreover, I am due to give birth in April so this only gives me four months. If I stayed in the uk for now, we would be able to spend less time together as a couple however I would be more familiar with the health system and have family support.

Currently feeling extremely anxious and unsure about everything.

No dilemma in my book. Stay here! If he wants to he near his partner and child he’ll move.

I don't know anything about Italian immigration post brexit... but if you're not married, would you even be able to move there and use their health system to give birth without having paid in?

You are the one that’s pregnant and will have to look after yourself post partum. You do whatever is best for you!

I would stay here and once the baby is out you can then see what you want to do.

Stay in the UK, if you give birth in Italy and then decide you don't like living there he can prevent you from returning home to the UK with the child. If he's so bothered about being near the child then he can move to the UK.

Agree with others that it would be best to give birth in the UK. But if you do go to Italy, make sure you research on childbirth options and antenatal/postnatal practices first. I don't know any specifics about Italy, but certainly other European countries have different practices and expectations from the UK and it might not appeal to you.

Stay here. After birth and recovery you can see if relocating to Italy is an option
