DS is 12mo and gets very dry skin on his cheeks. Can you recommend a gentle moisturiser - prefer natural products if possible, but basically one that works? also a gentle wash that I can use on his face? TIA.

Hi- I've found aveeno fantastic for my DS and now I use it too!

PuppyMonkey · 11/03/2008 20:41

We just use Calendula - works a treat!

I use waitrose bottom butter on DS2's face (and bottom). It is all natural and lovely and stuff

GP prescribed doublebase for dd when she had this - you can buy it at a pharmacists, and it's gentle and very good.

EffiePerine · 11/03/2008 20:44

olive oil?

BroccoliSpears · 11/03/2008 20:45

Second vote for Aveno. Dd has this on prescription. Very light, not greasy, moisturises better than anything else I tried.

Springflower · 11/03/2008 21:04

Have you ever used Aveeno on your face?? My children have exczema (I can never spell it so not sure that thats right) and I absolutely love Aveeno as its much less greasy etc than other stuff we have used. Anyway, one day I was in a rush and put it on my face and I felt terrible all day - it was like my skin couldnt breathe at all!! So, I think its great but am now more sympathetic to their cries about it and would think twice about putting it on their face unless it was extremely dry...

A friend of mine swears by Avent Magic cream, and her daughters skin is very dry.

Probably not very natural though

lucharl · 11/03/2008 21:08

another vote for Aveeno, have used it on my dd's face, no probs. You could also just put a natural oil such as olive or coconut. I've never bothered with any kind of face wash or soap anywhere - aveeno oil in bath or straight on skin if dirty.

Waitrose bottom butter. And according to this it does wonders for adults too

JamInMyWellies · 11/03/2008 21:19

Yes, I use Aveeno on my face after swimming every week. Feels fine to me. Use it on dd's very dry cheeks most days.

ladytophamhatt · 11/03/2008 21:40

calendula cream.

ds4 had teh wrost dry skin/baby excema I ever seen and that cleared it up in bout a week.

Pinchypants · 12/03/2008 09:28

Another vote for the wonder that is Waitrose Bottom Butter - worth a trip by itself. I use it too.

cornsilk · 12/03/2008 09:40

I used olive oil. I'm very tempted by that bottom butter stuff though!

phraedd · 12/03/2008 11:17

i would say olive oil or E45

mybabysinthegarden · 12/03/2008 11:25

I use aqueous cream instead of soap on dd in the bath. Not very natural but very very cheap!

Liz79 · 12/03/2008 12:24

ooo i was wondering this too. Wanted something that would be ok if it got in her mouth, just had a brain wave! lansinoh nipple cream!
