swim nappy needs to be tight around legs doesn't it? i have bambino mio 11-something lb one, DD is 11 lb 2.5oz and nappy appears a little loose around thighs. All disposable ones start at even higher weight. What am I going to do? does anyone know anything about the mothercare ones? specifically this www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B0011EWPXO/sr=1-3/qid=1205255466/ref=sr_1_3/202-9559169-2007054?ie=UTF 8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=71404031&mcb=core

please help, supposed to be going swimming tomorrow, really looking forward to it.

I don't know about mothercaer one, and it won't help you for tomorrow, but these have various sizing due to leg and waist poppers so give a nice fit

belgo · 11/03/2008 17:24

can you sew up the leg holes a little to make them smaller?

nappymadmummy · 11/03/2008 17:31

I had a mothercare one. It fit dd well but she never pooed in it so can't tell you how well they contain poo. It did fit fairly snug around the legs though. She was only a couple of months old at the time.

belgo - good idea for tomorrow
flame - is it a fuzzi but for swimming? i have 2 normal fuzzis. it might be good for next week

it is side fastening and a layer of microfibre-y stuff. Looks more like a swaddlebees tbh but made by fuzzi

Liz79 · 11/03/2008 18:40

do you think i could get away with a normal fuzzi or bumgenius without any stuffing? I think i will get up early and check out the one in mothercare - compare the leg holes with the one i have. Failing that will watch the other babies tomorrow and order a trickle thingy from flame for next week

Mothercare one I had worked well, one of the best I had actually. It wasn't the one you linked to but I think they are exactly the same apart from the one you linked to has a swimming cossie attached to it. I think one would be far more reliable than a fuzzi or BG without stuffing - not sure how one might cope with the chlorine in the pool either.

Have a good swim

i used the mothercare one on dd when she was a couple of months ld, and it was a little lose around the legs, but was the best fitting one i found. it isn't the one that had the cossie attached though, it was like little knickers

Liz79 · 12/03/2008 12:20

well the class was at 9.30 and I was in mothercare at 9.00! I bought a pink frilly knicker type (not a cossie) in size 0-6m/upto 6.5kg. She is just over 5kg. Thought that will do. Gets to pool, pays, wisely decide to check nappy before changing self - its too big still Got her dressed again, lady kindly gives me a refund and lets me watch the others. Friend convinces me to try tesco disposable swim nappy she had (16lb+ so had doubts), it fits well enough to let us go in!!!! Hurrah! I am going to buy myself some tonight. Next week I will put the pink frilly over tesco one so instructor stops saying him/his/he

I always use a Fuzzi with no inserts, and it works perfectly. No effect from the chlorine either, although we only go once a week.

belgo · 12/03/2008 12:26

glad you went swimming in the end!

I am an expert on swim nappies .

The ABSOLUTELY best one I have found is the Boots swim nappy. Because you fasten it with velcro and then tie it, it will fit any size. It is tons better than any of the disposable ones, and don't try any non-disposable one that needs pulling down over their legs - it doesn't contain the poo (should the worst happen), and getting a pooey, wet, nappy over their knees is not pretty!

I think this is the Boots one - it fastens with velcro round the middle and then you tie the ties to make it fit. It is REALLY good.

tortoiseshell
i used to have on elike that when ds was tiny, he's 9 now and didnt know they still did them like that. my friend i let have it passed it on etc etc.
shame as dd is past that stage pretty much now. i never had the poo problem with the mothercare one- must have been very lucky

I don't agree. I think the Happy Nappy is amazing - never leaks even with the worst explosions. It's not a net but a sort of wet suit material which is also good for getting a grip!! Most swim school insist on them actually. Anyway, you can put a paper liners inside to make cleanups easier as the only disadvantage is that it's not side opening - but this stops it leaking.
