What to dress a toddler with fever in at night?

What to you dress your toddler in at night if they have a fever? Would you use a lighter sleeping bag and less clothes than usual or just what they normally wear? Mine (16 months, still in cot) has been in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag, sleepsuit and vest most nights. Yesterday she had a mild fever (38 degrees) so we just sent her to bed with Calpol and her normal nightwear but she got hotter during the night and had a febrile convulsion which was terrifying. Now I’m not sure how to dress her as I also don’t want her to be cold. The bedroom can be around 20 degrees when we go to bed if the heating has been on but drops to around 17 degrees or a bit less overnight.

My DD is a bit older, but I've swapped her duvet back to a summer weight one as she has a fever.

I remember being in hospital with her a year or so ago and being roasted (no pun intended) for keeping her in a fleece jumper while she had a fever - in my defence the ward was absolutely freezing.

To the point - I'd definitely lose the vest, and maybe swap to a thinner sleeping bag if she's still warm in the night.

I would open a window and cool her bedroom as that’s on the hot side for sleeping. I always coslept at that age so they were normally just in a nappy with a light throw over us or just a sheet if it they were very hot.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll lower the amount of clothes she and wearing and avoid having the heating on tonight before bed. We can’t open windows as it’s ground floor on a major road I’ve actually been finding it quite cold at night recently and we are sleeping in the same room.

I'd ring 111 and ask for advice, esp due to the febrile convulsion.
