Baby Boy Wetting Through Nappies at Night (Side Sleeper)

Hi! I’m new here and was wondering if anyone has advice on bed wetting.

My baby boy is 4 months old and has recently become a side sleeper, wetting through his nappy up to 3 times a night.

I’ve read through other threads and forums and have gotten advice from my health visitor but we still aren’t able to solve the problem.

So far we have:

  • Gone up a nappy size
  • Have tried Pampers Premium Protection nappies
  • Have tried Pampers Baby-Dry Night pants
  • Made sure his private bits are pointing downwards
  • Made sure the nappy is fastened tightly and the frilly bits are facing outwards

Despite all of this we are still having the same problem and are our little boy is waking up more in the night due to being uncomfortable with the issue. It’s a struggle having to change the bed sheets and his clothing 2-3 times per night too! I’m assuming it’s not an absorbency issue as we don’t have this problem in the daytime only on the left (on the hip or left side of his back) side every night as this is the side he sleeps on.

Does anybody have any additional advice for us? It would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

We had a similar issue with one of our babies, we tried the following:
Bigger nappies
2 nappies at a time (one the right way around, one backwards)
Different brand (I think we must have worked through EVERY brand that exists!!)
Nappy wraps
Cotton wool inside the nappy for extra absorbency

In the end, the only thing that worked was Aldi nappies in a larger size with a nappy wrap over the top, but you may have to try a combination of all these to find what works for you! Good luck, and take heart - it does stop eventually 😂

It’s always nice to see you’re not the only one going through it and it does seem never ending 😁

And thank you, we will get there in the end!

Try Sainsburys I find they're the most reliable for DD during the night, not 100% every night but a lot better than pampers

Just wanted to come back on here and let you know- been using M&S nappy pants for the last 3 nights and zero leaks! Cost £3 for 24 so not the cheapest but even if you just use them for night it's worth it for me x

Hi there, did you ever solve this? 3 children and 3rd is a side sleeper. There's just no absorbancy there! Trying everything! Words of wisdom needed..... thanks!

We have the same issue atm. Always left side/back. The nappy isn’t even super full when it happens annoyingly and always make sure side is pulled out, vest isn’t tight etc. But he can sleep through so it’s interrupting sleep. I only feed him when he wakes in the night due to being wet which is one time usually. We went up to a size 4 a few weeks back before this happened. Then went down a size once it started happening as thought it was use to nappy being to big. It stopped happening for a few days and now we are having the same issue with the size 3. Use pampers baby dry.

just curious if anything worked for you in the end or if just stopped happening?

We honestly swore by wraps (washable covers). Please do try them.

Bellej83 · 20/06/2024 07:34

Thanks! Do you have a brand you used?

Active fit are better than baby dry for wriggly sleepers IME. IDK if they make them in size 3s though.

We used Motherease or Little Lamb.

We tried pulling the nappies up more at the front so that they’re lower at the back and that seemed to help. But we had to accept the risk of a poopy blowout not being as securely protected 😂.
