Moving, changing childcare, mum guilt

Hi everyone. I’ve got myself into a bit of a stress because I’m not sure what to do about my living situation. I currently live in a small 1 bed flat with my 1 year old.

My son is currently with a childminder who lives locally but she is moving soon so he will be starting somewhere else in January. My tenancy here started in May 2022 and was 1325, then after a year it was increased to 1450 and I have spoken to my neighbours recently who’ve been here for 2 years and they’ve said it’s gone up to 1600. So my predicament is, do I:

A) stay in the 1 bed and pay 1600 for at least another year so until May 2025. My son will be 3 by then. Pros- won’t have to change childcare so he will be more settled & no stress of moving. Cons- worried about space. I find myself not being able to buy things I want because I don’t have the space for them, and I’m also worried about how sharing for this long may affect him. I also selfishly want my own room.

B) option B is to move in May 2024, after my son has just turned 2. Obviously I could try to find somewhere close to his childcare but that may not be possible given we’re in London and demand is high. Therefore if I chose option B it’s quite likely we will have to move areas completely and thus move childcare again and my main worry is how this will affect him. Pros- I could find us a 2 bed for slightly more or the same as me paying 1600 so it would be better value for money. I also think I’d be happier in a 2 bed.

What do you guys think? I’m awful at decision making 😅
