Baby - blocked nose HELP!

NewMumQuestions · 07/11/2023 19:52

My 4 month old has always suffered with blocked nose on and off. I use Calpol saline spray. The Nasal aspirator to suck out the snot is hit and miss. Has anyone tried Snuffle Babe/Olbas/Vicks products on their baby? Which products helped? Thanks!

Olbas worked well for us, we just put a drop on their sleepbag before bed, in the middle not near his neck!

The calpol room plug in worked quite well for us! Agree the snot sucker is not so effective.

If you are breastfeeding then breastmilk will help.

Second the calpol plug in, it's great. We have one for our room when we're snotty too 😂

They told me at the hospital the sucker thing does clear them out but it also stimulates them to produce more snot so to avoid them! Calpol plug in is good and snuffle babe on feet

I used snuffle babe balm on their chest if they are chesty and on their feet if they have a bad cough. Olbas oil on a muslin under the cot.

I can't remember what age you can use snufflebabe etc from, but what I've found to be great is one of those room diffusers that use water and essential oil. Lavender seems brilliant at clearing stuffed noses and easing coughs, and helping them sleep. You can use eucalyptus in a room with very small babies but honestly lavender is brilliant.

Thank you so much everyone for your tips! @MissC07 @tealandteal great tips on Olbas. Calpol plug in seems to be popular! @headcheffer I might get a room diffuser. Good idea! @Cheesecake53 formula fed but siblings and I were EBF and still had blocked noses!

I meant squirting breastmilk (carefully) into the nostrils, I was told that when my little one had a blocked nose and I was amazed at how well it worked. But you got great other advice and I hope your baby feels better soon!
