Hate the school run..

I absolutely hate the school run to the point I’m dreading it every day. Ds just started secondary but isn’t comfortable coming home alone yet so I need to collect him, after I collect him we need to get a bus to collect my other two from school. This is the problem as it’s by his secondary school of course the bus is ALWAYS packed full of secondary school kids, they are rude and will literally push in front of you to get on the bus first. There are so many of them and they just scream shout and even have fights outside the school. Yesterday the driver must have let at least 50 of them on and they never ever go upstairs even the driver was telling them to go upstairs but they wouldn’t. I’ve thought of other ways to do it to avoid them but realistically I can’t walk as it will take to long to collect my other children so need to go the bus but I’m just absolutely dreading it every single day 🙁 no point to this post other than wondering if anyone else hates the school run?

How often does the bus come? Can you walk up to the stop before the school, then you'd get on before the schoolkids get on? I always use this trick when I need the buggy space!

The end must be in sight anyway, your DS will have to start getting the bus on his own soon. Most kids his age do. Is there a friend who gets the same bus so they can travel together?

Sorry I should have included ds is autistic, hence why he isn’t able to travel alone and he is too anxious too anyway, he hasn’t made a single friend yet 😔

Could he be entitled to transport to school (mini bus, taxi etc) ?

The secondary schools near us have teachers who supervise bus queues and sometimes even get on the bus with the pupils for a stop or two.

PolarBearHugs · 07/11/2023 18:20

No they wouldn’t do anything like that and there is too many bus stops for them to do that going in different directions. He wouldn’t be entitled to transport he isn’t diagnosed (on waiting list) and doesn’t have a ehcp

Contact the school that they are from and tell them about their behaviour on public transport and what stop that get on
