parvovirus

My 9 year old has been diagnosed with parvovirus. He didn't have a slapped cheek but he had a rash all over his body. It was very worrying. Did anyone else get the rash but not the slapped cheeks? Also, do you think it could have come from the dog ?

Hopefully it is slapped cheek and will disappear for good soon. How long til you go on holiday?
DD just been sitting here drinking a cup of tea and her hands have flared up a bit. She was holding onto the mug so the heat must have brought it out

Does it disappear as soon as her hands cool down? We go on the 18th. I’ve just read the report from the dermatologist who said if it doesn’t disappear would need to investigate connective tissue disease’s which I’ve just stupidly googled & wish I hadn’t 🤦‍♀️ DD is under a consultant already for coeliac disease & has an appointment on the 4th June I’ll be taking all my questions/concerns straight to her if not fully cleared up by then. The actual rash seems to have fully gone haven’t had a flare up in a week now but at times her skin still looks mottled.

Yea same seems to have pretty much gone apart from occasional red cheeks but that could be the weather it’s been a hot week! The dermatologist said it looked like ‘ livedo reticularis which if it was permanent & didn’t disappear would need investigating but fingers crossed it’s definitely improved! I’m certain it was slapped cheek that’s just taken longer than usual to go. Glad you dd’s has gone.

I have livedo reticularis (it’s a symptom of the clotting disorder I have). It doesn’t come and go, although sometimes it’s a bit more noticeable, and it looks completely different to the slapped cheek rash, it was interesting having both at the same time! Hope that helps reassure you x

Thank you it does! Does it look similar to any of the pictures I’ve posted?

Yes the slapped cheek rash I had on my hands looks similar to that. It doesn’t look like my livedo (although someone could come along as say it looks just like theirs). My slapped cheek rash wasn’t raised on my hands, chest, face or back, but it was on my arms and legs. It was pretty short lived on my hands but took a few days to vanish everywhere else. Keep an eye on it and go back if it persists.
