twofishes- I have four (youngest 10 months) and would love another! Don't think this feeling will ever go away for me... you're not alone. Is your dp in favour of another?

twofishes · 10/03/2008 15:49

you see this is a recent thing for me, brought on I think by the fact that DP has booked in for a vasectomy (which I was all in favour of and he wasn't so keen , although more to do with fear of them slipping with a big knife than wanting more kids, but now its changed) have mentioned kind of casually things like 'just think this will be the last time we see first steps, first words.etc etc' to which I get a 'I know but think of the sleep and the ££ when you can work more...!'...he won't go for another am pretty sure about that , just going to have to live with it I think

My dad confessed to me that they regretted not having a fourth - they didn't because of money etc. Maybe give yourselves a bit more time before dh has the chop? It's so final..

Yep that is why I am pg with number 4 deffo be the last though!

YeahBut · 10/03/2008 16:51

Yes. I'm finding it very hard to accept that I will not have another child in all likelihood. DP was reluctant to go for #3 (although he is so glad we have ds now) so I think my chances of having a fourth are non-existent. Doesn't make the longing go away though.

cazzybabs · 10/03/2008 16:52

Yes - but I think I could have a 100. I love being pregnant and I love the newborn stage!

mrbojangles · 10/03/2008 16:59

we have 4 and i was always broody up untill recently, now I am so sure and contented that I wont have anymore, So yes it is a feeling that can go! just maybe not for everyone.
My dp had a vascetomy when our youngest was 2yrs and I had a period of grief after it, which I think is very normal for anyone ending their childbearing time. Now I am thrilled at the prospect of worry free sex and looking forward to the experiences with the children I have.

sorkycake · 10/03/2008 17:13

I've just managed to persuade Dh to go for the fourth and final child.
Took some doing I can tell you as well!

For me the feeling just won't go away and I always wanted 4.

ernest · 10/03/2008 18:14

I am now pg with no. 4. I always wanted 4. We tried after ds3 for a year and it just didn't happen. Gave up. Accepted my 3, was content with 3, gave away all baby stuff, then boom! When was least expecting it, pg with no. 4!

Now dh keeps hinting at 6, and cannot at all tell if he's joking

liahgen · 10/03/2008 18:16

I have 5 and don't feel "finished". Dh swings between ok to no way!!

Am breastfeeding so we will see what moither nature has inmind.

bigcar · 11/03/2008 16:30

I said that after no 3, just one more and that's it for me. Now desperately wanting to go for no 5! We have no money and no space but I can't help the way I feel. I just wish there was a pill or something to cure broodyness

nappyaddict · 20/03/2008 16:43

twofishes - you can't drop subtle hints around men!! you need to just say outright i'd like another baby what do you think!
