2 days a week nursery (free play so access to the nursery play garden and the outside activity area)

Park on a Saturday morning for 1 hour

Rest of the time activities at home so a typical day is usually a craft or similar activity in mornings and then nap 1130-1 then after lunch just playing with toys and YouTube for educational stuff. So lots of stimulation and learning. But just not going outside that much is this ok ?

edited to add -parent has disabilities and difficulty due to agoraphobia and ocd

They need to be walking around outside to develop their vision properly.
What about other social experiences like shopping, the library, walking in the woods, swimming etc. Can your DH vary the experiences on Saturdays?

This comes from experience as nanny rather than a parent but the parents had a rule that the children needed to go outside at least once a day. There was a day early on when it was absolutely pouring with rain with thunder and lightening. I didn't take the children out and it was noticeable from their behaviour. The parents didn't tell me off but the mum pointed out she could tell they hadn't been outside. They lived in a city and she said that even a quick trip to the shop around the corner tends to work. She was right. There's something about getting ready, going outside for 10 minutes and then going home that somehow regulated the children.

This. If the weather is absolutely terrible I still think a trip to the shop or soft play is worthwhile.

I really do think they need to be outside everyday and the confines of a nursery garden better than nothing but not ideal. Being confined to a house all day, most days really isn’t healthy.

She’ll have a vitamin D deficiency if nothing else.

Is your child just going to nursery and the park? I’m not sure from your posts. Visiting difference places like the shops, library, post office, local high street or anywhere is very important to support a wide range of vocabulary. A wider knowledge of the world is also important for when it’s time to learn to read and lots of reading involves inference which can be difficult if you don’t have knowledge to support this.

I don't think that's enough, but I'm jealous because I have children that require a walk rain or snow or storm.

I think you are doing great to have a child that sleeps so well and does so much indoors, but I would make it your goal to focus on fresh air.

Even something like a smart trike that you can hold onto and the can pretend to pedal but get the outside time.

I agree @ButterMyParsnip - my dc noticeably behave worse if they haven’t been out, it’s so important for sensory regulation, it’s not just about exercise it’s about your senses having different challenges to process - different noises, different light levels, different textures.

it all sounds very hard @Freshairr and there just isn’t a lot of support out there for families, good luck Keith the therapy. Lots of OCD in our family, it’s an awful thing.

Honestly, in the UK, between October and March, taking toddlers outside for hours isn’t much fun. You don’t need to be outdoors to be active; gym and dance classes, swimming, soft play and trampolining all give them a good work out without being outdoors, and then you can have a little walk to the post office when you get home.

That's just not true it's totally subjective. I belong to Welly Tots and we take our toddlers out in all but heavy snow or storms and have a ball.

Since its a disability causing the issue, O don't think just saying its not enough will help you.

Hopefully your therapy will help you get out of the house more.
Ate you using all your funded nursery hours? Any other family members who could take him out?
