2 year old fell & not bearing weight

This is a long one so I do apologise in advance! On Friday evening my little toddler who's just turned 2 fell off our kitchen bench 🥺, it was only a very small height and he seems to have done much worse before now at nursery etc as boys do, however he cried but we couldn't see anything obvious so we presumed it was more the shock of the sound of the bench 😫..anyhow, he then proceeded to stand and couldn't bare any weight on his right leg and therefore unable to walk 😭 literally broke my heart. We felt all over his leg and prodded and poked moved everything around and he didn't seem to be in any discomfort? He has even been squirming around at nappy changed etc so it was very odd.
I took him straight to a&e that evening and waited 5 hrs, we finally saw a nurse practitioner who also prodded and poked and moved him around and she couldn't understand how he seemed fine with this and nothing obvious no swelling bruising etc either but yet was unable to bear weight on his leg or whatever it may be, she then went off to speak to the a&e Dr who advised he had x-rays. Off we went to have the x-rays me riddled with worry...once they came back the nurse practitioner called us back in and she said the results were back and that she thought she may have seen something on his right hip that she wasn't too happy about 😫 but that she asked the paediatric drs to take a look at them and they couldn't see anything of concern 🤷🏼‍♀️
She then said that what they would do is refer him to the fracture clinic who would be in touch within the next 7-10 days...I then asked her what we are to do in the meantime given he's not putting any weight and is therefore not walking 🥺 she said to just go with him and see if he does do it or not and to give him Calpol 4 x a day.
So odd we went. It's now been 5 days and he is still the same not bearing weight and it's breaking my heart. He is he absolute normal self doesn't seem to be in any pain whatsoever and he's even riving around the sofa/bed and doing his usual kicking his legs back and forth quite hard which I would imagine would hurt him if he was in pain? We have been having to carry him or he's also reverted back to crawling to get about too 😫
The odd thing is, is that a couple of evenings ago he (as toddlers do) insisted he wanted to wear his wellies on the sofa so my hubby popped them on and he proceeded to slide down the sofa, so I said let's just see if he will walk with his wellies on, so i held both his hands and gave him lots of encouragement and he walked with me and the even walked across the room by himself in his wellies, however I don't know if it's because I was giving him a fuss or he realised it then hurt but he proceeded to wobble back down winging and he hasn't done it again since. He also is happy to go on his push along car where he uses his feet to push himself along after he asks me to put him on it. Its so strange! I am so stressed and upset with it I just hope and pray he does not have a fracture/break. We had a letter come through today for an appointment at the fracture clinic on Monday so I am really worried. I presumed they would just call me.
I just wondered what everyone else's opinion is on this or if anyone has had any experience where this is concerned. From one super worried anxious mummy 😭 xx

One of my twins kicked his leg out the side of the buggy and hit a wall, so kind of richoched the shock up his leg. Was late, he cried a lot then fell asleep so we left him. Wouldn't weight bear next morning so hospital.
Like you they couldn't see much but he clearly wouldn't walk so they bandaged it up for support. She basically told me to lessen the amount over the next week until he was walking. She said it seems to be physiological but having the bandage on seems to make them feel more able to walk
We also had a review at fracture clinic but he was cleared as was walking by then

@SleepingStandingUp thankyou so much for your reply, that's reassuring to hear. I hope it's a similar case for me! How long was your little one not weight bearing for?
What did they do at the fracture clinic as he has already had x-rays? Mind you I guess your little one was already walking again by the time you went.
We too was wondering if it was psychological what with the wellie situation etc too. Well I'm hoping it is psychological to be honest! Xx

Hi @HollieL567,

I just came across your post, I am in the exact same position with my LO.
can you tell me how it went with your LO and what the problem was. Will really appreciate if you can share some insight.
