How to stop breastfeeding 12 month old?

Hey guys! Sorry for another post. My 12 month old DS has started biting me whenever I try to feed him and it’s SO painful, he’s even left deep teeth marks. It’s so sore and every time I try to feed him again I’m so scared that he will bite me again and he does. He bites me so hard. I don’t know if another tooth is coming through (he has 12 teeth already) or if he’s just lost interest in milk as he eats well? I’ve been trying my best for the last few days and each time, he just bites me. I’ve tried unlatching him every time he does, setting him down, telling him no and walking away, but he keeps on doing the same thing again and again and the pain is so bad that I can’t take it anymore. I feel so bad because I’ve always fed him to sleep, he doesn’t know how else to fall asleep, I think he does it more for comfort than for milk. He does want me to feed him but he bites me straight away whenever I try. And he can’t fall asleep in any other way because he just doesn’t know how to. Except for the car. He falls asleep in his car seat when me or DH drive around. I don’t know how else to make him fall asleep or nap. But the pain is too severe now, I can’t go on any longer like this no matter how much I want to. How can I suddenly stop breastfeeding DS? I’m definitely going to get mastitis, aren’t I? Any advice would be much appreciated, guys 🥺

I can't advise on the sudden stopping but here's what I did when dd went through this phase... they can't bite if their tongue is in the right place. So I wouldn't let dd latch on until she said Ahhh with her tongue over her bottom teeth (ie stick her tongue out downwards). I was very insistent on this. It took a few days but it worked, no more biting ever again until we weaned at age 2.5yo. So that could be something to try.

I mean let's say she's moving in to latch - I'd say no! Say Ahh first (I'd demonstrate with tongue out downwards).

It really worked for us

How about using those nipple guard things. They helped at the other end of the process when nipples were sore in the early days.

I got my ds feeds regulated down to 4 set ones a day and then dropped one a week. Tbh by the end he did ‘t notice. He was content with cuddles. Just make sure you feed him lots and drinks (milk /water).

I’ve tried using nipple shields today, he doesn’t want to be anywhere near them
