Toddler is ill (and getting final molars which is awful but at least the last teeth to ever come in) so no nursery today (he does two days a week), it's the second week of the half term holidays for my 5.5 year old. We spent the entire day inside with the toddler whining and moaning all day, and the other one going stir crazy with boredom.

Sad to say tomorrow will be the exact same again.

I absolutely hate days like these. The noise, the mess, the tv programmes, everything.

I'm fucking miserable right now.

Get your DH to take holiday during half terms. It's too much on your own.

Ah days like this are shit op. Increase TV time, snacks, easy food, whatever. Let the housework go to shit for a few days, everyone will survive.

This too shall pass! Open the wine op. Solidarity.

So sorry, it can be horrible can't it?

Tomorrow can you give DC2 some painkillers, something easy to eat and pop them in the pushchair and all go to the park. DC2 might sleep probably not but at least you'll have a change of scene.

Agree with increased screen time and easy snacks as suggested earlier.

Find some kids' TV programmes that you don't mind watching and watch it with them and laugh at the ridiculousness of it. They're not all crap and, if you're there to talk to them about it as well, they can learn a lot from it.

Make a pack-up the night before so you have your dinners already sorted and then try to ignore the mess until your partner gets home, if you have one, or until at least one dc is in bed if not.

Calpol and ibuprofen will help the smallest and get your biggest some magazines to relate to the programmes they like to watch and do some of the puzzles together.

My DH and I had to take our A/L seperately as we didn't have enough to cover our DC school holidays .
And it isn't easy taking short notice A/L

Many times when DD was grumpy with illness or teething and DS was climbing the walls the only solution was to put her in the pram wrapped up in the hope she'd sleep and go off out to find some swings'n;mud

Get out the house tomorrow if at all possible.

The toddler will be fine wrapped up in the buggy. Raincoats/umbrellas for everyone else if necessary. Have a least an hour of fresh air. Will do everyone some good.

And then just go with what they want to do, don't worry about all the normal stuff.
