Terrified of 9 week old choking

I am so terrified of my 9 week old choking on milk when being bottle fed. I can’t be in the same room as I get so anxious about it (DH does the bottle feeding ). I’m so anxious also when giving medicine as he seems to choke a bit

is this rational? Is it normal?

Has he just started choking abit recently which has frightened you?

Any changes in regards to teat size?

Does he have reflux/silent reflux that your aware of?

I would also advise speaking with your MW/GP

A bit might go down the wrong way and make them gag/cough but milk isn't going to get stuck in their throat. Having a newborn is terrifying but I always remember our midwife telling my DH they are pretty good at keeping themselves alive.

I think if you can’t be in the same room it might be time to get help from GP as it’s affecting your life!

This. Hqving a bany means non stop worrying about their well being for life so you have to be able to find strategies to cope Sounds like you may have PND OP please see your health visitor/gp ASAP.

It does sound as though you need some additional support.

Babies choking on milk is rare and like a previous poster has said, it's not going to form any kind of obstruction.

Please speak to Pandas Foundation to day and your HV on Monday Flowers

My DC started choking in his sleep on what appeared to be nothing. It was reflux. He was given medicine which really helped. Please talk to a Dr. Even if just to get reassurance. Its completely normal to worry.
