Baby not pooing after 8 weeks vaccination

Hi all, my combi fed baby had his 8 weeks vaccination on Tue morning and hasn't produced a dirty nappy since then. He usually poos every day or every other day, and the poo is very watery. They told us that the rotavirus vaccine could cause diarrhea but does it also cause constipation? Baby doesn't seem to be straining to poo though and is farting and producing wet nappies normally. Anyone experienced similar pls? Thanks!

I asked this exact question on a forum when my now 7 month baby had their 8 week jabs! I’d read so much about diarrhoea but nothing about constipation. Baby is ebf and we were a 1-2 poo a day, every day.

my baby eventually went on day 3! As long as they are still feeding and producing wet nappies it should be fine, but if you’re worried it never hurts to check with the doctor 😊

They can go ages without a poo then suddenly it comes so be prepared. Don’t be like me and get caught in a posh cafe with an exploding baby. I think my dd hadn’t been for 11 days. It only happened once but it was spectacular.

Thank you both for your replies! Today he's feeding a bit less (only taking 90ml from his usual 120ml morning bottle) and sleeping a bit more. But still nothing else unusual apart from that. Will wait a bit more for the inevitable poo then...

Update: So he did manage to poo on Fri afternoon and the poo was actually more sticky / solid than his usual watery poo (so didn't explode out of the nappy). But there was a little bit of blood in the poo, so we called 111 and were advised to attend A&E. After four hours at A&E they decided that it shouldn't be intussurception (no vomiting or crying) or milk allergy (no rashes, weight gain normal), and we were discharged. Apparently they only get worried about feeding if it reduces to half the normal amount, same for wet nappies.

Fingers crossed that this is just an one-off episode!

Glad baby finally pooed!

We have also had very tiny streaks of blood in his poo before. Similar to you doctor wasn’t concerned given no other symptoms and said it’s likely a small fissure or tear from straining. Hopefully just a one off for you!
