Tantrum

Hey,

My daughter is 5 just turned this September and she just had an explosive tantrum lasted an hour.
I will add she was sick yesterday so it could be because she's tierd.

I tried to calm her down and in the end me saying lets go sleep downstairs just me and her(she shares a room with her sibling who was attempting to sleep) did it (I wouldn't of course make her sleep downstairs )

Any recommendations on how to help when it's this bad

Please help

Has she just started school? My DS is in Reception and is utterly exhausted right now. It's been a long half term and he desperately needs a break and some mental downtime. I think removing her from the situation and distracting her was the best thing you could do. Sometimes you just have to ride it out and let them know you're there for them

When my eldest started school she was awful absolutely awful. Nothing I did helped it just got better after she got used to the school hours. Do whatever you need to get through it!

As you said she was sick yesterday, she might not be feeling 100% and liable to tantrums.
You did the right thing in calming her.
She'll probably be fine tomorrow.

Your child is just telling you they have nothing left in the emotional tank, I had a similar evening although it was more like on the edge the whole evening.
Illness and nursery and all the rest can very quickly mount up.
He (4 years child) ate 5 wheetabix with milk and conked out in bed.
I'm sure things will be better one day, just hang in there! Good luck.

Sorry and to answer the question the only thing you can really do is be present, and hopefully get food into them if they are able then some sleep. And look after yourself too.

I'll do my best
