A few days ago my DS got a biro and scribbled over his bedroom wall. He is 5!! After a telling off, I told him that if it happened again his telly would be taken out of his room. I said that tellys were for big boys and by drawing on the wall he showed me that he was still a little boy. (TV in room is only because he shares room on weekends with my 13 year old step son) Anyway, last night DS took a 20p into the lounge and scratched it up and down the magnolia walls. He turned to see if we were watching, then carried on. DH carried out my threat. I sat in the lounge while he removed tv. My god I had to listen to DS crying and begging DH not to take it. I felt awful. So tempted to rush in and sahout "Stop!" If it was me I would have backed down with the "ok, you have one last chance" Line. My poor baby. God Im so pathetic. Why is disciplining so hard????!

Its never easy but your Dh did the right thing. Your DS needs to know there are consequences for his actions!!
I know sometimes i back down when i shouldnt but i try to carry my threats through, some days its easier than others!!!

WELL DONE FOR CARRYING THROUGH - HE NOW KNOWS THAT THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO HIS ACTIONS AND HE WAS TESTING THAT BY WATCHING TO SEE YOUR REACTION, GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO EARN BACK THE TV IF YOU LIKE BY GETTING HIM TO DO GROWN UP CHORES FOR A WEEK EG TIDYING HIS ROOM, LOADING THE WASHING MACHINE, PUTTING AWAY CUTLERY ETC

oooh, like the idea of giving him grown up chores.. less work for me ha ha! The daft thing is, DS seems to respect DH for what he did. Once the initial screaming was over DS explained to me why he was being punished. He didnt sulk it was bizarre. Ok, but heres a question for future use... When tv was being taken and DS was crying, he kept coming to me for cuddles because "Daddy was being horrible". Not sure if I done right thing but I would'nt cuddle him right then. Felt if I cuddled him he would think I was on his side? What should I have done??
