Baby bath tub to use in shower

Hi all!

We only have a shower at home and am wondering what kind of bath tub to get for our newborn.

I'm aware we won't need it much at the beginning / can use the sink but I'd rather get one now for when we do need it.

Any recommendations that anybody has used in a similar shower situation?

Hi Op

I can remember buying a very expensive baby bath when my eldest was newborn. Only to find that I used my kitchen sink. I ensured it was clean. The kitchen was always warm and placed a flannel on the bottom of the sink. It saved my back too from the bending and stretching in the bathroom.

Congratulations on your arrival Flowers

I had an inflatable one that could be stood on the worktop, worked really well

I had the moby one great as it supports the baby. I only have a small kitchen and a big baby so the kitchen sink is too small.

Shnuggle is great if you need a baby bath tub.

We got a Stokke collapsible as it fold flat to store easily. Great through to toddler years also as they're a great size

Shnuggle baby bath with the stand. My LO absolutely loves it at 3 months because he can sit upright in it. Plug on the bottom to empty straight into shower try and saves your back with the stand.

Another vote for Schnuggle. I was really a fan of theback support so you have a bit morefreedom with your hands.

We had the stokke collapsible bath (in fact at one point we had two) they are fabulous.

Ssme92 · 14/10/2023 14:10

Another vote for shnuggle with a stand.

I found the kitchen sink too messy when they got to the splash stage. Water everywhere. Much easier to have a tub in the shower

bcnmadre · 14/10/2023 14:20

Shnuggle definitely!

I saw a lot of people on here recommending just using a sink so I was in two minds about getting one, but I'm so glad I did. Made bathtime much easier and my son loved being in it until he was past 1. We picked one up second hand and it didn't cost much at all, and easy to sell on after he'd outgrown it.

Mum3563 · 14/10/2023 14:23

We had a Stokke because it was foldable and easy to put away. You can get a larger size that fits in a shower too. If you look after it and make sure it dries out properly so the silicon doesn't get mouldy, you can sell it on for a reasonable price.

Another vote for Shnuggle here. We are on child 2 with it.. he's just getting a bit big for it now at 18 months. Very sturdy and safe. Also is great for child no 2 as you can have it in the bath when older child is in their big bath (my 4 yo dd quite likes a bath with her little brother but not with him in the big bath in case he does a poo...!)

We have had the IKEA bath since our 2 year old was a newborn and it's still absolutely fine for him (he's tall too). However, it made bathing him a 2 person job before he could sit up so I'd recommend a shnuggle or similar for the first 6 months.
We used the bath just on the floor in the bathroom at first and now inside the shower cubicle as he's very splashy!

Random141 · 14/10/2023 15:26

Another vote for Shnuggle! We also don’t have a bath, used the baby one until he was 2, and now have the bigger toddler version. Sits perfectly in the shower tray

Thank you all so much, this was super helpful! Will look into all the recommendations 😊
