Threadworms

Dd 4 complained of an itchy bum Monday, we are pretty sure we saw a worm when we checked that night. Whole family dosed with ovex, deep cleaned, washed everything we can think of. Changed her bedding each morning and clean pyjamas and pants each night. Rigorous hygiene. She's pretty grubby and we are reinforcing washing hands constantly.
But she's come back from nursery today with shit in her knickers despite us telling them and asking them to be vigilant with her. I'm wondering if they even checked she washed her hands.
I'm going crazy thinking we will never get rid of them and we can't keep up this level of cleaning and washing with working full time. I've already taken annual leave to clean.

You have done things to sort the threadworms, so hopefully this round is dealt with.
Hygiene in kids takes time. They can barely reach their own bums by the time we're asking them to wipe themselves. Could you send her to nursery with moist toilet tissue (like those kandoo wipes maybe), and ask them again re handwashing?

Ovex usually kills the live worms within 24 hours but you do have to dose again 2 weeks later. They're very common and she is likely to get them several times throughout childhood. All you can do is encourage hand washing and deter nail biting.

They are grim, but they're also harmless, so don't panic and just continue doing what you're doing.

I know I'm overthinking this but I can't see any way we can get rid of all the eggs that could possibly be in the house. I was sat right next to her a minute ago and she stuck her hands down her knickers to scratch her bum and then went to put them in her mouth. Despite us telling her over and over not to do this. At my wits end and so exhausted

They are awful, so you have my sympathies. Can you talk to her about at least scratching through her knickers when it itches rather than right inside. And the first time my youngest had it was so stressful and exhausting. But turns out he is prone to it so we’ve had a few bouts by now. I wash his bedding each day for a few days after ovex dosing and give fresh bedding to all of us. Also wash any clothes and pjs he used after only one wear regardless of whether they look dirty or not for a few days. A key thing is to give their bum a little wash with soap and have them change their pants as soon as they wake up, as any stuff from the worms is left overnight. I get my other two to do this as well as a precaution for a few days. And obsessive hand washing, especially before they eat anything because hands often go in mouths then. That always seems to get it sorted. I promise it does go away.

You are massively overthinking and panicking unnecessarily. Truly, all you need to do is give them Ovex and then another dose 2 weeks later. I have actually rarely even wash the bedding. Yes, I'll wash the dc who had them the day after the dose, but I don't wash anyone else's and I don't wash their bedding again. The worms die within 48 hours from the Ovex. There will be no more eggs after this. No need to keep washing and cleaning. Any eggs you didn't catch in those first 48 hours may hatch in 2 weeks time, which is why you dose again and they are killed straight away before they have time to lay any more eggs. Then you're in the clear. We have had threadworms many times over the years with two dc who live wallowing in mud and not washing hands. I've never had them come back even at 2 weeks. They are awful, but quite easy to treat and get rid of.

There’s an anti-itch cream (sorry, can’t recall the name, begins with E I think) that’s very effective.

I’m new on here. Just got threadworms again as saw them last night, my poor son. Taken ovex all of us and hopefully it goes quick. Cleaning is the most annoying part. Any advice welcome on when do I stop cleaning🤣🙃😞
